The F35 is a POS. The idea of having one airframe for all mission parameters is a fucking pipe dream, and even if it wasn't, the current DoD contractors, with their bloated bureaucracy and 1970's processes are NOT the way to get this done.

The Navy should keep the F-18D until somebody can show another's superiority. The Chair Force should have a F-22 and rhe B-52 as workhorses and the B-2 (B-3?) as mission-specific stealth parameters.

The Marines are too stupid to fly (that's for you, Shockwave) and Army just needs helos.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/newsbysector/transport/farnborough-airshow/10973853/Farnborough-Airshow-Inside-the-F-35-Lightning-II-the-invisible-fighter-jet.html

Pretty hardcore equipment. Invisible with jump take-off/ landing.

Planes that are invisible to radar do not exist. Most armies are equipped with battlefield small radars that can spot incoming enemy mortar round, that are bout 1 foot long. Yet F35 is invisible to radar, sure.....also: it has a small fuel tank and a very small internal weapons bay: put external tanks and armament under the wings and the radar signature quadruples.

That overpriced piece of shit is years behind schedule and billions over budget and still has dozens of fault in it. Better for air forces and tax payers to buy something off the shelf. Something that acutally works, and offers value for money and is RELIABLE!

You'd also be purchasing something that wouldn't be able to stay in the air on day one of a conflict with any opposing force that possessed modern SAM's.

I believe the Indian Air Defense head said that the Russian equiv to the F35 is garbage and wants out of the joint Russia/India development project. "It would be a better investment to buy off the shelf F35s".

So....who the fuck knows.

simply put, the f35 is an electronics powerhouse.

its jam packed with hardware and software that receives and transmits everything, and puts it all together, plus it has adequate stealth and performance.

the mig31 or even the su24 is russia's equivalent...and they arent even close to this.

too many armchair experts involved in this... with uninformed opinions. Lockheed Martin arent in, and havent ever been in, the business of producing inferior or obsolete technology.

the forces have their specification..and the contractor is required to build to that spec.

You can bet that the forces have a spec that ensures a superior platform for very specific reasons.

do you think they are going to tell the world what those specific reasons are?

not a chance.
