Luck of the Irish
« on: July 20, 2014, 11:27:17 AM »
Okay maybe those lucky charms weren't needed. Everyone catch McGregor vs Brandao?

Turned out to be a rock concert in the making. Media traveled to Ireland, too, because it wasn’t to be missed. The people of the Republic of Ireland turned out and created pandemonium in McGregor’s work place, total reverberation, reaching UFC-tested decibel levels of 111. Those are rock concert levels. Even White himself was talking about his dear old grammy, who stemmed from the green center of Cork, before the fight.

Conor McGregor is one of those guys that comes along in the fight game whose phenomenon you can’t easily define. Who knows how long it’ll last, or if he’ll do as well in Las Vegas, or if he’ll become a pay-per-view draw.
He's yet to test himself against a top 10 UFC vet.

He has potential, but he hasn't fought anyone of note yet. So far he's just hype.

I was expecting Brandao to put up more of a fight though. All the Irish SBGI fighters won that night. Could be the first time all fighters from the same gym scored wins on the same night.

I want to see him vs a wrestler.. guida, edgar or Lentz..
If he can handle/stuff a wrestler then we'll know he's the real deal.

I hope the UFC don't start protecting him like they do with bisping. Conor will be a big draw when fights are held in Europe so they may give him guys that don't pose much of a challenge.  He has his eyes set on holding a belt by the end of the year  so he'll have to face good opposition  soon

Fight was over in 3 minutes or so, total anti-climax. Oh wait, I didn't care anyway.
