With that said, I don't have an issue with this program on its face. BUT, the whole reducing suspension thing? That could be a problem. If it's about preventing these boys from acting up, that's fine. But, if it means slaps on the wrists for hoodlums who should get booted, I have a major problem with that.

It's much the same with honors classes. If the black and Latino kids deserve to be in a Honors classes, get them in there (hopefully, they won't get picked on and bullied by their peers as 'acting white').

Don't just stick them there merely for some 'diversity' crap. And don't can the honors program (as one NJ school did, just because there were too many white kids for the PC crowd's liking).

They don't do that with the Asians even though they're a minority too.

Education is a cultural issue which governments can't change, poor families from under privileged back grounds who value education always end up with children graduating and doing well in school. In the UK minorities outperform white children because most of them are off recent immigrant back ground where education is a strong focus. In India for example, not having educated children is a shameful thing to bare for any family.

WASHINGTON (AP) — A program designed to foster a new generation of young African leaders will be renamed after former South African President Nelson Mandela, the White House said Sunday.

President Barack Obama, who has said he was one of the untold millions of people around the world who were inspired by Mandela's life, is set to announce the name change at a town hall-style event on Monday in Washington with several hundred young leaders from across sub-Saharan Africa.

The youngsters are participating in the inaugural Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders, part of the broader Young African Leaders Initiative that Obama launched in 2010 to support a new generation of leadership there. The fellowship is being renamed as a tribute to Mandela, who died last December at age 95.
