January 6 was not an insurrection.  No one was charged with the federal crime of insurrection.  It's a BS talking point.  So yes, calling it an insurrection is unsubstantiated.

Trump did not call neo-nazis and white supremacists very fine people.  He explicitly said those people should be condemned.  So yes, you and others are simply lying about what he said.  It should be embarrassing at this point to keep repeating that lie.

Trump was not mocking a disabled reporter.  I've posted the video on here several times showing how the story originated and evolved and how video was manipulated.  So yes, saying he mocked a disabled reporter is unsubstantiated.

Are you suggesting the videos I posted were altered? How are these videos manipulated? Fact: the reporter has a disability. Fact: Trump mimicked the reporter and his disability. I saw and heard Trump say these exact words, "very fine people on both sides" in the video of the press conference. Did you hear him say something different than that?

Whether or not it was an insurrection is not based on someone's opinion. The federal law defines it as an insurrection based on what happened and which is shown in the video, I included in the previous post which clearly shows they destroyed government property or assaulted federal officers.

It is likely the reason these folks were not charged with insurrection is because it complicated by First Amendment rights of free speech. And from what I have read, insurrection is difficult to prove. Many folks today still consider and call that event an insurrection.

I am flat out saying Trump did not mock a disabled reporter.  Because he didn't.  Repeating that he did is just repeating falsehoods.  Just like repeating the "both sides" lie is just repeating a lie.

Whether or not there was an insurrection is based on what actually happened (which clearly wasn't anyone trying to overthrow the government and the military and run the country) and the fact none of the over thousand people charged were charged with violating the federal insurrection law.

Are you saying the videos of him mocking a disabled reporter and saying, 'Some Very Fine People on Both Sides,' are fake or altered? Whether Trump mimicked Serge F. Kovaleski or mocked him is a matter of opinion. It looked like mocking to me as it did to millions of other people.

The video of him allegedly mocking a disabled reporter is actually him speaking and making hand gestures that he has done many times talking about numerous people.  It's clear as day.  I was fooled too.  But I know that the media (and the left) are just incredibly dishonest.

You can find numerous examples of him mocking people.

Regarding very fine people, you and others are deliberately quoting him out of context.  Here is an excerpt of the transcript from his speech:

Well, I do think there's blame. Yes, I think there's blame on both sides. If you look at both sides, I think there's blame on both sides and I have no doubt about it and you don't have any doubt about it either. You're changing history. You're changing culture and you had people. And I'm not talking about the neo-Nazis and the white nationalists because they should be condemned totally.

But you had many people in that group other than neo-Nazis and white nationalists, OK? And the press has treated them absolutely unfairly. Now, in the other group, also, you had some fine people, but you also had troublemakers and you see them come with the black outfits and with the helmets and with the baseball bats.

https://www.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/1708/15/acd.02.html

He expressly excluded "neo-Nazis and the white nationalists" from his "fine people" comments.  So you and others who keep repeating this nonsense are just outright lying about it.

What Trump meant or who he was talking about is not what I am disputing, I am simply saying that he said what he said. It is like his habit of mocking people and inventing derogatory childish names for folks he does not like, when he does these things many people are be offended and disappointed in him.

I guess I missed his ever mocking someone in the way he mocked that reporter's speech and disability.

Mocking people and calling them stupid names is unbefitting of anyone in his position. Trump's lack of decorum is a problem for many people. -Guess his mother never told him to think before he speaks.

Where did I claim to follow that advice?

My mother told me this all right, not that she followed her own advice, which I also do not follow sometimes when being spontaneous.

This exchange started with me responding to this:

I wouldn't know because I have not repeated unsubstantiated stories about Trump.

I hope now you understand:

Trump did not mock a disabled reporter.  I gave you the link.

There was no "insurrection," and I've explained why.

Trump did not call white supremacists and neo-nazis "very fine people."  I gave you the actual transcript of what he said.

Those are all falsehoods that you and the left have been repeating for years.  And like I said, I was initially fooled by the disabled reporter lie, which is a large part of the reason I refused to vote for him in 2016 and voted for the space cadet Gary Johnson.  But I was wrong.

I understand that what most people consider mocking someone, apparently some (like you) do not. In the videos I've seen and previously posted here, it looked like mocking to me.

I understand that although the events of January 6, 2021, have been widely described as an insurrection and an act of domestic terrorism by politicians, historians, and in congressional reports, that to secure a conviction for insurrection, prosecutors needed to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that participants had the specific intent to overthrow the government or prevent the execution of federal laws entirely, rather than just disrupt a single, temporary proceeding.

I understand that in this video (which I have previously posted) at 1:03, Trump said "There are very fine people on both sides." I never claimed to know what or who he meant when he said this.

Just to clarify, Trump was mocking the reporter.  He was not mocking the reporter's disability.

Regarding insurrection, use your common sense.  Someone armed with a hockey stick is not trying to overthrow the government and its military.  Any reasonable person who looks at January 6 knows it was not an insurrection.  It's a knowingly false political talking point.

You are not seriously trying to pretend like you don't know everyone on the left who tells the "very fine people" lie are not accusing Trump of calling neo-nazis very fine people?  And you have just been repeating this "very fine people" comment, for years, without it having any meaning?

I am not sure why the Epstein clip was what showed up in the post. Obviously, I intended to post the clip I referred to. I just fixed the error. Again, what I posted is that this was what Trump said, word for word. What he meant could be something else entirely.

With regards to January 6th being an insurrection, what I said is that many if not most people believe it was an insurrection, including those who explained why no one was charged with insurrection.

BTW, much more than just hockey sticks were carried and used by the folks storming the Capitol on January 6th.

•   Legal & Congressional View: A bipartisan majority in Congress, along with the House Select Committee that investigated the January 6, 2021, attack, characterized the actions taken to overturn the 2020 election results as an insurrection.

•   Constitutional Application: The 14th Amendment’s "Insurrection Clause" (Section 3) prohibits anyone who has "engaged in insurrection or rebellion" against the U.S. from holding future office. This clause was used in attempts to challenge Donald Trump's eligibility for the ballot in various states.

o   Application: Legal scholars and courts have argued that an attempt to interfere with the peaceful transfer of power—a core constitutional function—constitutes an insurrection against the government.
o   Definition of "Engagement": Legal interpretations suggest that "engagement" in insurrection includes not only direct violent action but also logistical support, mob mobilization, and non-violent overt acts or words that encourage the disruption of government proceedings.

There is no need for you to clarify what or who Trump was mocking. The point is that he was mocking or mimicking the reporter. No matter what, it was in exceptionally poor taste, unbefitting anyone in Trump's position, but time has proven that it was not an isolated incident since Trump is known for publicly berating people.

Trump mimicked/mocked the reporter. How he meant it is open to interpretation.

It is not unheard of for someone who said something stupid to claim they meant something else. Apparently, this is also something you do.

You must not have watch the whole video. He said everything you said he did, including what I said he did. The video is a little over 4 minutes long. He said what he said.

Trump mimicked/mocked the reporter. How he meant it is open to interpretation.

It is not unheard of for someone who said something stupid to claim they meant something else. Apparently, this is also something you do.

I've said all I can say about this.  You really have shown that you cannot be objective when it comes to Trump.
