Why would you watch something you find boring?

i watched that video of that dude eating 20k calories on faster speed, otherwise it would be 7 minutes for him preparing the first bowl of ice cream alone

With the old analogue Pal system before there were computers that could compensate, films shot at 24 frames per second had to be televised at 25 frames per second.  That is a 4 percent overcrank.

Well I got a strong feeling editors play with the speeds all the time.

A 10-20 percent speed change, really alters the mood of a scene..

Its a good way to build up drama.

Interesting idea. I could plow through show just to be "up to speed" on the topics in the lunch room, coffee machine et cetera.

When I was a kid I thought everyone in the 1920s and 30s just moved really really fast.

And the whole world was black and white.

We were poor and I did not have access to a color tv until 1970... was like watching high def back then.

You're like my dad. Impossible to watch football (soccer) or any sport for that matter with him. He will constantly pause it and rewind, same with TV shows, if he misses the most minor thing. Problem is he will use 30x speed and completely overshoot the mark. Then the same again trying to get back to where he wanted. He watches sports on a delay often so I will hear if a goal has gone in or whatever on the radio in the kitchen and he flatly refuses to bring it to live play.

Then for passages of open play he just fast forwards it at 2x or 6x. Infuriating  >:(

Yeah its really weird, how almost everything we know of the era just before we were born is based on shit television.

Im watching mad men right now ironically, trying to speed through like 4 seasons to catch up.

Its so weird how distorted of a view we have of those times.

I swear if it werent knowing people from third world countries anytime before 1990 would be a complete mystery to me.
