I've decided to build a minimalistic homegym.
« on: August 04, 2014, 12:59:50 PM »
Just the basics:

Trap bar. (squats/deads/farmers walk/shrugs/shoulder press/row)
Giant mirror.
Framed posters of male bodybuilders.
Floorfan.
Ronnie Coleman supplements.

Did I miss anything?

I look forward to not having to share gym with "people" and to be able to train nude and to my own music (Miley Cyrus' Wrecking Ball)

When you get serious, you'll realize that it's the right thing to do and you'll never stop adding to it.

You need to decide if you are the schmoe or if you'll be having schmoes visit you. If you have schmoes come to rub down your muscular physique you'll need a waiting area for them. A table with coffee and doughnuts would be nice. Don't forget some nice seating with a television screen showing sweaty men working out.

Yes the more I think about it the more sense it makes. To have your own gym is very manly, maybe the last frontier for the modern man.

Alright, then you just need some body oil and kleenex for when you pleasure yourself between sets.

I bet on average people catch a cold once a year going to the gym just by sharing equipment with others. This is the end of that! THIS IS WHERE I PUT MY FOOT DOWN

best of all you can train in just your underwear and not have anyone complain to the manager

I just snagged a 125lb ivanko dumbbell set off craigslist and an old gym incline bench for a good price. Adding in a rack and a cable machine, trap bar and about 700lb of plates and I'm good to go

Yeah and then family will hang towels on your equipment, and kid toys and shit. And since TV, porn the computer and snacks are like 5 feet away you will have zero motivation. And there are no other dudes you can pretend you aren't secretly trying to show off to, you will not push yourself as hard.

Unless you have an extra room that is entirely devoted to gym equipment, I think home gyms suck.

this, I had a fairly well appointed home gym in New York....I used to dry clothes that I didn't want to put in the dryer.

zero motivation,  too many other options. some guys are wired that way, that's great....not one of them
