Why is it all depictions show Jesus with long hair but they are claiming in some recent stories he may have been black.  Wouldn't he be afro jesus then?

I highly doubt Jesus had long hair.  I'm sure he had a long beard, but long hair I doubt.....European artist invention.   

It was customary in many churches during biblical times that men not have long hair.

Its more than likely the case though.  Millions and millions depictions of him exist and that is the majority throughout history, Jesus looking like that, so we have to go with the evidence.

Why would so many people have it wrong then for 2000 years if he didn`t look like that?

I here you, but the vast majority of artistic depictions of Christ are based on European invention and preference.  Not all of course, but many.  

If you took someone from the Son of God film that I would think he looked most like I'd go with the actor who played John.  I'd wager with a darker complexion.

The OT prophecy described by Isaiah had him looking pretty average:

Isaiah 53:2
2 For He grew up before Him like a tender shoot, and like a root out of parched ground;
He has no stately form or majesty that we should look upon Him,
Nor appearance that we should be attracted to Him.

In terms of physical appearance I would assume so given he didn't stand out from the norm as it's stated in scripture....nothing in that regard made him stand out....his appearance was most likely humble and unassuming.

In terms of the practices of the pharisetical leadership of the sanhedrin that did more to bring glory to themselves? Absolutely Jesus broke custom and convention....not only that he scolded and corrected them as it pertained to giving glory to God.
