a family member had a car stolen once.  They had it for 2 months... put in new sound system, tires, rims, etc.  it was a total jackpot when cops grabbed them, they ditched it.   car was all tuned up, fixed up, really nice.

Working in IT, a smart phone is a must... I can vpn into my company with it, ssh to log into unix servers and routers from anywhere.
If I wasnt in th is field, I'm with Vince, and shitty phone to make calls would be fine for me. Not a gadget guy by any means.

I have a Samsung Note 4 and only use it for those few things I mentioned (work stuff and texting with my family, easy way to keep in touch).

What's so smart about a Smartphone....it does a lot of things but it does it pretty shitty.  Camera is shit, can't surf porn from it...hard to scroll past the foreplay and cheesy shit, organizer is a mess....better and faster just to use a paper one.  Even making calls from one is shitty when you have to smash your fingers into the screen until it turns into a smudgy piece of trash....nothing personal but I like my phones with buttons so I know that I'm hitting the right number....and as cheap as a 10 dollar phone is, it still has bluetooth so I can use my 5 dollar bluetooth earpiece.

Some of us actually have work to do and need to keep track of appointments and work, instead of selling bee pollen and browsing for porn. And the simple fact is that just about every not-completely-basic smartphone does things like browsing, e-mailing and calendaring very well. It's just a basic tool of business today.
