NFL league just Admitted they now Fucked up on 3 Major plays that all cost the Lions the victory

the 1st one is the Pass Interference / Holding,

2nd is dez Bryants running on the field while the DEF is out arguing the call to the refs with his helmet off,

Now a holding call on Suh on 4th down by Dallas TE.

http://espn.go.com/nfl/playoffs/2014/story/_/id/12129092/nfl-tells-detroit-lions-officials-missed-holding-dallas-cowboys-fourth-conversion?ex_cid=sportscenterFB

Refs missed blatant hold on Suh

The NFL admitted to the Detroit Lions on Tuesday that officials missed a blatant hold on Ndamukong Suh on a crucial fourth-down conversion from Tony Romo to Jason Witten with six minutes left in Sunday's wild-card game.

The conversion happened after the disputed Brandon Pettigrew play and before the Cowboys' go-ahead touchdown.

Had holding been called, it would have put the Cowboys in a fourth-and-16 hole on Detroit's side of the field. Dallas likely would have punted and Detroit still would have had the lead.

NFL head of officials Dean Blandino said Monday that the non-call on pass interference against Pettigrew by Cowboys linebacker Anthony Hitchens was debatable, but holding definitely should have been called on the later play.

Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford wore a microphone for Sunday's game, and the audio will air Tuesday night on "Inside the NFL" on Showtime.

"Can we explain that or no?" Stafford reportedly said after the officials picked up the penalty flag on the Pettigrew incompletion. "Just flat-out overturning a pass interference call?"

Stafford later could be heard yelling, "Hooome cookin!"

Do you realize how many penalties are probably missed in hockey, football, basketball, soccer, etc?

I don't know why people are harping over this. I am sure the detroit lions didnt have every penalty called against them.

Yeah, but a lot of games are fucked up because of bad or missed calls. Why is this receiving so much more attention than any other game when this happens? I guess because it was a playoff game.

Playoff game / context of call within game / blatant error and handling.  NFL had no choice but to comment.

I guess. At this point, nothing the lions could do about it. And its impossible to say whether or not they would have won if the calls were different.

I guess its some consolation that they addressed the issue.

NFL had to speak on it since it was blatantly mis-handled and the public outcry was huge.

They had an excellent opportunity with over 2 minutes and 2 timeouts remaining in the game and couldn't even get the ball past mid field.

There was also a hold on Hitchens (via facemask) that would've obstructed his ability to turn around and "play the ball".  Now, as I understand it deliberate facemask holds are only penalties in college ball....not the NFL.  Although in the NFL the face mask would simply be a "holding" penalty.    So we see pass interference negated by a hold...penalty wash.

Heard it on AM sports talk radio yesterday concerning Dez running on field without a helmet.   Simply put, not a penalty.   It would be a penalty if a player on the field removed his helmet.  Player not on the field that enters the field after a play is dead with no helmet is not a penalty.  They are weird rules yes, but what Dez did was not a penalty. Sorry.

Then we have the hold on Suh.  LOL!!!  Suh shouldn't have been in the game to begin with!!  The biggest travesty is that the NFL didn't consider his prior history of dirty play when evaluating his recent dirty play against Rodgers in the GB game.  They threw out the prior history and upheld his appeal.....nonsense.

And the holding of the jersey happened before that.

So, if you believe the Dallas fan's justification of the PI due to a  facemask, there were three infractions on the play.  They don't cancel out.

But anyway, the VP of officiating says they were wrong.  His opinion is the verdict here.  It was a horrible call.

Also, deliberate facemasks are 15 yd personal fouls in the NFL, not a holding penalty.  Incidental facemasks have been ruled out.

Oh and thanks for the clarification on the face mask piece.

SI: Jerry Jones should be NFL Executive of Year

If you would have told NFL fans that the Dallas Cowboys would be hosting a playoff game after going 12-4 before the season kicked off, you probably wouldn’t be believed by many.

That’s why Sports Illustrated’s Peter King says Jerry Jones should be Executive of the Year.

In his annual awards post, several Cowboys made his list.

King’s panel of experts voted and the combination of Jerry and Stephen Jones topped Arizona’s Steve Keim for Executive of the Year. Here’s their reasoning.

“The Cowboys were lauded for their first-round draft pick, offensive lineman Zack Martin, who earned Pro Bowl honors after helping DeMarco Murray to a 1,845-yard rushing season. The Martin pick was notable as Dallas bypassed the temptation of Johnny Manziel. ‘Jerry Jones has made the unsexy pick for years now,’ says conference foe, Washington safety Ryan Clark. ‘But this, along with a long-term commitment to Romo that paid off, are huge reasons Dallas is tops in the NFC East.’

Another personnel move that paid dividends: luring Rolondo McClain out of retirement to replace Sean Lee at linebacker. ‘That was a surprising choice, sure,’ says The MMQB’s Jenny Vrentas. ‘But the proof is in the Cowboys’ 12-4 record.’

There was audio of the refs convo when Stafford was asking the refs why they picked up the flag and the ref claimed that one of them didn't see any contact.  HAHAHA?  NO contact?  there was a lot of contact.  Funny clowns.

They all do this. Like, when a fumble occurs, they are still fighting for possession of the ball under a stack of people, after the play is dead. No difference.
