Wake me the fuck up when #AcidTOtheFaceChallenge starts to trend

So what I hear is you pay $500 to als foundation or you take the ice water bucket dunk

Over 1 million idiots on the interweb have taken the ice water rather then donate and posted it online

Really upstanding individuals

Btw the rich famous crowed is taking the bucket water and dinating tho

There are some charities I feel strongly enough about to support...either by writing a check or by volunteering...yet I don't tweet about it or try to make myself look like Mother Teresa (who didn't even lift, by the way).

Brilliant.

This is just another way for people to pat themselves on the back, so they can feel like they are making a difference.

This is much different than actually rolling up your sleeves, getting "dirty" and advocating for a cause. There are those rare individuals who have changed laws, policies, donated money, or whatever and have changed the world. Imagine if these people just dumped ice water on their head, instead.

If you took every person who dumped ice water on their head and really made them advocate for a cause (ending child abuse, homelessness, etc), the results would be staggering. Instead, they just fill up a bucket of water and pour it on themselves.

The challenge raises awareness and increases donation potential.

Last year this time about two million was donated with no awareness challenge.

This year over 13 million has been raised.

Everyone I know that took the challenge also donated.

The merits of the challenge kinda speak for themselves.

a lot of people are making it All About Them and being attention whores and all dramatic with it.

These people are obnoxious and would be using Oldify or whatever else was trending that week. They are d-bags.

however, a side effect is that a lot of $ is being raised for a good cause, so it's okay. Let the attention whores ham it up. that'll end up being tens of millions of $ toward research, which is great.
