PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -
The Washington County Sheriff's Office is looking for a murder suspect after an employee at a Northwest Portland apartment complex was stabbed and killed Tuesday.
It happened just after 5 p.m. at the Commons at Timber Creek apartment complex on Northwest Barnes Road.
Deputies said a man stabbed Nicole Laube with some type of sharp object. Laube then ran to a tenant, who called 911.
By the time deputies arrived there, Laube was unconscious and they were unable to revive her.
Deputies immediately locked down the apartment complex and began searching for the suspect using K-9s, but they weren't able to find anyone.
Many residents said they are on edge knowing the person who did this is still out there.
"It's really scary. I have a 3-year-old daughter, and if they haven't caught him yet, who knows what could happen tonight," said resident Lacy Garza.
There's no word on whether Laube knew her attacker.
Because deputies don't have a suspect description, they are asking anyone who lives in the area or works in the area of the attack to call them if they think they saw something.
They say even the smallest piece of evidence could be critical in this case.
