WINOOSKI, Vt. -

A sign on a lamp post at the bottom of the Winooski Circle displayed the words "Yield Sneakers Bacon" until Friday morning. The bistro owners took it down.

It got there as part of "Operation Bloom."

A city program put it in place to keep its flower beds beautiful. If businesses do some gardening they can post an advertisement where they do it, but the word "bacon" on the Sneakers Bistro sign started a discussion about diversity on the Winooski Front Porch Forum.

It started with a post from one woman who wrote that the sign was insensitive to those who do not consume pork. She said as a Muslim she is personally offended by it.

The owners of Sneakers spoke to WPTZ. They say they've reached out to the individual who made the post and proactively took the sign down. They also say they regret any harm caused by the sign, and that their goal was never to cause stress or bad feelings.

I find that Muslim offensive. In fact, I find ALL Muslims offensive. Can she be removed? (shame on Sneaker's owners for taking down the sign. Cowards.)

this past weekend, in SW Fl, we had "Baconfest" where dozens of bars and restaurants delivered all sorts of bacon delights.

bacon shots at bars.  bacon pizza.  bacon everything.  I didn't go, a little gross to me.

With all the "redskins" bullshit going around I 've decided that the words "Muslim" and "Islam" are culturally insensitive to me as a catholic with strong ties to the church in Rome.  Further, as a catholic that has European roots which surely trace back to the crusades, I can no longer say "Muslim" as it creates historical PTSD and traumatizes me based on all the deaths of crusading European Christians at the hands of the murderous Islamic barbarians. I will now and in the future replace Muslims with towelheads, ragheads, haji's and or dune coons. Islam or Islamic will be replaced with shitbags or nutbags. Crisis averted....

One bar here has a Bacontini.  No joke.  Bacon flavored vodka, with a dash of smoked maple syrup, and instead of an olive, you get a 2"x2" thick cut slab of bacon dropped in it.

I had a sip of it and it tasted like I had swallowed some bacon flavored flannel.   That was one heavy drink.  Ugggghhhh...
