People rally to demand more transparency in fatal Walmart shooting

Ohio State Rep. continues to request release of store surveillance tape

BEAVERCREEK, Ohio —About 200 people gathered in protest Saturday outside a Beavercreek Walmart where a Fairfield man was fatally shot by police.

Organizers said the rally was the latest efforts by people wanting to shed more light on the Aug. 5 shooting death of John Crawford III inside the store.

Authorities said police responded after a caller said a man was waving a gun. Police said Crawford refused orders to put down the air rifle he was holding.

i'm sure there are plenty of situations where

1) cops waste a dude holding a gun
2) cops say he pointed it at them
3) it wasn't pointing at them, but they acted pre-emptively so they go home at night.

Problem is, they did it under video camera this time.  And IF IF IF he indeed pointed the gun at them - the video would have been released on day one lol.

You always know when the police are 100% legal in a shoot - because they release that tape VERY fast to pacify the public.  When people are holding rallies - JUST TO SEE VIDEO OF THE SHOOTING - and their report says it was a 100% clean shoot - I tend to think video doesn't match statement.

The family is demanding immediate release of the tape, and gawker quote the family's attorney as saying the tape reveals the cops showed up, and shot on sight.

Still can't understand why the NRA isn't making a ruckus about cops shooting a man for carrying in an open carry state? Unless of course they think open carry legislation doesn't apply in this particular case. After all, the man that was shot was an UNarmed Black man, and it wasn't a real gun. Ya, that must be it! 

The Constitution is for all intents & purposes DOA and certainly does not specify any right to inspect store merchandise. Inspecting store merchandise before you pay for it, ...that's an executable offence.

He didn't point the bb gun at anyone.  He had it to his side.  They shot him down.
I'm not sure of the exact requirements of a justified shoot in that state... BUT if their police report said "he pointed it at us", it's a lie.

The caller, who washed out of military in 7 weeks and seemed to have a hard-on here... exaggerated with claims of "he was waving around a gun and pointing it at people".  he was not. 

Above all, it appears there was never any interaction between police and dead kid.  He was facing shelf, playing with an air rifle, hanging by his side, pointing at floor.  They saw him and opened fire.  No "Police, drop it".   That's scary.  Could happen to any of US.   Caller made up shit about pointing at people.  Cops fired without attemping contact.  Imagine that happening to any of us... buying a toy rifle, some prick over--reacts, and cops skip the chat part and just open fire.  Best of all... the cops won't be charged, it was decided today.

The idiot 911 caller also told the operator that he saw the black guy loading the weapon...  Also, not sure if it's been mentioned in this thread, a woman died of a heart attack apparently brought on by panic as the Walmart shoppers fled the store after the cops shot and killed the black guy.

In a perfect world: 
- Black guy's family and family of woman who died of heart attack would win civil lawsuits against the police department and the idiot 911 caller. 
- The two cops would be retrained and their department's policies regarding the response to (alleged by 911 callers) gunmen reviewed and updated.
- The 911 caller, who likely doesn't have a pot to piss in, would serve jail time.

Calling 911 on firearms carriers is a new favored tactic for some anti gunners.  They get amusement out of the police harassing the firearms carriers. It`s all fun and games until this kind of thing happens, not that they care, their hatred for firearms and firearms owners supersedes all else.
