Tell us about some of the stories. Can you tell us about his training at the time? Such things as split and sets.  I heard he used moderate weights and worked out fast with little rest between sets.

I actually wore a Bill Grant , Mr World tank top when I ran ( slowly plodded LOL) the Boston Marathon many years ago.
In brief, a good runner buddy of mine , qualified and didn't want to run it, due to his track season. So we made a bet, about me being able to finish it.
I wore his number on my Bill Grant tank top. After seeing 100's of skinny runner types go by, I must have looked pretty massive by comparison and folks often yelled ; " Go Mr World" when I jogged by.

You must be a monster.

That race has been known to have some explosive finishes.

I don't feel good about those two jokes.

he was a huge believer in training primary-antogonist muscles. i remember he mixed up the routine also, some weeks he would do back/chest on monday-legs on tues-bis/tris/delts on thurs-off friday then repeat mondays workout on saturday. an example chest and back workout looked something like this,we did bench presses supersetted with front chins, incline barbell supersetted with bent rows, flyes supersetted with low pulley rows, pec dec supersetted with hammer strength reverse grip row. it was a great time for me training with bill n hearing him talk about the 70,s golds gym days

Looks better than ...... Vince Basile

What interests me is how we all age at different rates. Arnold and Bill aren't the big armed dudes they used to be. Heck, Arnold was huge. I doubt his arms are anything near 18 now. 18 inch arms for him is small.

I do train a bit from time to time. Mostly arms. But each time I train them they get a response and are sore for a few days which means I am still growing. The key is to keep the muscles sore.

In the old days we didn't have a clue about what exactly triggered hypertrophy. Now I know. Most of the big guys do enough to keep themselves big but most guys in gyms stay the same and don't grow much.

If you look at Bill Grant you will see he has lost most of his size. The biceps are the main muscle that has some size. This is what will happen to all of us sooner or later.

Good for Bill to keep hanging around the gym.

You got to keep in mind you had a physique built almost entirely on drugs.

I started bodybuilding in 1958 and didn't take anything until Jan 1970. That is 12 years drug free to start with. How many guys do that nowadays?

Of all the national champions out there since 1970 my drug use is limited. Just 2 Dianabol a day for 6 weeks. I got a good result from the first time. Tried Dbol twice after that but not much happened so I abandoned them.

No drugs of any kind, no supplements or vitamins since 1975. That is almost 40 years. I will be 72 in about 2 weeks. I still enjoy bodybuilding.

bill still has a thick shredded back n pecs, his abs r ripped to shreds also, ofcoarse not what they once where but still big. ofcoarse arnold n bill aint the same size they used to be,they arent on the amount of drugs they once did n they dont train as heavy as they once used to, remember albert beclkes? he stayed huge well into his 60,s,it can be done
