Do You Agree With This Celebrity Status?
« on: September 05, 2014, 04:46:17 AM »
This is an M&S shoot, obviously promoting the brand and it's clothing line targeted at older ladies

I can't say it's wrong, but I don't know.....a small part of me just seems like....errr. Dead son, campaign for justice, rise to prominence, now cash in on it via commercials, rubbing shoulders with singers and actresses and divas?

So who is the token in the middle?

Ok, her son (who shares a similar skin complexion as an FYI) and a friend were attacked in early 90's by a group of 5 (white) guys, they saw them called them the N word chased them and her son was done. The Police made a pig's ear out of handling this case and the offenders were never brought to justice until recently, so between then and then....we never heard the end of it.

I have no issues with this, but embracing this celebrity stuff where the root element of your name being known is the murder of your son is a bit cringe.

She's being brown nosed to death, for starters she's got an OBE, ok no big deal Gary Barloe has one and Jimmy Savile too....etc:

On 27 July 2012, Lawrence took part in the 2012 Olympic opening ceremony, holding the Olympic flag with Ban Ki Moon, Shami Chakrabarti and others.

In October 2012, she received a Lifetime Achievement Award at the 14th Pride of Britain Awards.[15]

In April 2014, she was named as Britain's most influential woman in the BBC Woman's Hour power list 2014.[16]

Lawrence was elevated to the peerage as a Baroness, on 6 September 2013, She sits on the Labour benches in the House of Lords as a working peer.[19]

I can't comment on the rationale behind this, but if she's willingly embracing this lime light and posing for fashion shoots next Annie Lennox and Rita Ora, is rather inappropriate:

However, retail advertising campaigns are supposed to be representative of the customer base they are aiming towards.

If things continue as they are in London, a black woman in her 30s with a dead son from knife crime, will actually be a good representation of their customer base.

does anyone know what the evidence is to support all the awards she gets

is simply complaining about the police enough to get in to the house of lords these days

its horrific what happened to her son

but her earning a six figure salary for doing fuck all

isnt exactly a legacy

My smart fone dictates when he wants to use "you're" or "your"

Made in Taiwan, English is not his strongest subject.

I remember thinking it was strange too when I first saw it. Surely it would make more sense to have women that all are involved in showbiz since they are at forefront of fashion.

Having Stephen Lawrence's mother? I mean, seriously? ???

Lifetime Achievement Award for nothing more than having your son killed?

How ridiculous.

Didn`t a building or youth centre in London get named after stephen Lawrence as well. And do you remember that christmas episode of Extras when"Andy Millman" was in the celebrity big brother house and the black woman said "my son got murdered,it was on the news and everything",well i always felt like that was based on Doreen.
