Champion bodybuilder Darren Ball is today undergoing a kidney transplant thanks to his mother.

The South Wigston father-of-two was struck down with kidney failure in November last year and relied on dialysis four times a week.

Mum Katrina, 52, proved a match for her son and agreed to be a live donor.

The day Darren hopes will change his life began at 8.30am when his mother was taken to theatre to have a kidney removed.

So if his kidney problems were "genetic" (as the surely must be!) won't his mum's donor kidney fail on him and then the one she has left fail on her too?

Wait!  He still has his two kids to bum  at least two more replacements from! 
What a piece of work this "pro" is.

He still trains and will continue training after the op. Hopefully not as recklessly. He lost a lot of size.

He is a deluded man, he had a small window where he looked ok, but as with all insulin monsters he totaly fucked his physique, this man had a few health warnings and totally ignored them, for a dream that even the man on the street could tell you was never going to happen...

He went from normal heavy to nasser overnight, this was never going to end well

He has been talking of competing while waiting for this transplant.
Had a long time to sort his failing kidneys around 18mnths i hear
choose to ignore that.
With two young lads & being around 34 I would seriously hope he
stops the Gear, sadly i doubt it.
