Emporer Penguins: a miserable existence

So I'm watching a program on BBC about these penguins and I'm thinking, "what kind of life is this? They just sit in the cold all day with the ice and a bunch of other stinking penguins, trying not to get eaten by seals". Then the narrator was talking about how there are 60,000 of these things in one colony with a bunch of babies, and that when they go to get food, they have to come back and chirp until their chick pops up. I thought it was crazy, if those were people, they would've been kidnapped. Then I thought, holy shit, they just fuck, eat, and don't pay bills everyday. Who's got the miserable existence?

Cuteness OR paedomorphism (seriously that's what it's called) is actually evolution’s devious way of getting us to look after our offspring.

Our brains latch on to pretty much anything with the same criteria. Babies or adults with big eyes, large heads, small noses e.g. Kittens, Baby pandas, Puppies etc.

Cuteness is such a strong emotion it even inspires aggression in humans -- which is why you probably feel the urge to squeeze it
