It actually looks like my highschool. I went to a highschool with 2,000-3,000 students. There was maybe about 50-75 white students. The rest were African-American and Latino/a.

Had two black students in my high school in Calgary when I graduated.

My school was the same way as his. We had a few token black guys, and one gay black dude who refused to come out until senior year, as the gay acceptance generation hadnt yet come up, so he would have had complete hell at our school.

This was in 2003.... even one generation later and the attitude was completely different, people who didnt accept and embrace gays were ostracized by the females making it suddenly cool for guys to be cool with gays.

I thought it was an interesting shift in the dynamic.... the women really brought about the attitude change, because the men were so desperate to get laid that they completely changed their attitudes and shifted for the womens acceptance.

Interesting cultural shift in the school.

My high school has become worse and is now routinely patrolled by police officers. Second worst high school in the city.

My high school had about 25 black kids, who all played football and funny enough once football season was over you never saw them again until training camp.
