Bought a Mercedes GL420 today

Costs about $34k, the list price is about $90k new, its an 08 car. Trading in my BMW 330i, which is a shame but I needed a 7 seater and its either that or the Audi Q7. The tow bar is removable.

i dont know what that means. if you want a 7 seater here with boot space there are only two cars available, this and the q7. a few other 4x4s have 7 seats but no boot space when third row is up.

What made you choose the GL over the Q7?

tbh i would have gone for the q7 but my wife doesnt like them, just a style/ taste decision. apparently the drive in the GL is a bit better, the q7s are maybe a little cheaper, slightly larger 4.2lt engine but we wont use it off road much. i used to have an 18ft boat but not at moment, a small trailered boat is probably the most we will use the off road and towing capability for. we couldn't fit 3 child seats in the 3 series and if we have visitors the extra two seats will be useful.

3 kids but wife if from abroad and preferred the extra row. would have bought an x5 i think if i had just wanted 5 seats.

I just did a Google search and found out that it's pretty hard to design a 7-seater that looks good from the outside as well. If money wasn't a problem, then I would choose this RR.

I have 3 cars presently (all bought in cash before anyone says lease )

A 2014 Porsche cayman S modified in many ways, mainly an additional 100hp
Murdered out. Black everything including 20 tints. Didn't switch rims. Bought it custom and new so I ordered what I wanted ( stick )

Used 2012 x5m. No mods. (Auto)

Used Saab 2006 93 aero wagon heavily modified  (stick)

Yeah we're in different money situation I guess but my Saab wagon id take ANY day pver what u just bought and it's just as comfortable and roomy and more engineered and better looking and half the cost

Obviously the x5m and cayman S are very different stories

With mods my cayman S cost more than a mid 911 and I wanted that because of chassis and the engine placement etc
