Security license?  Since when do you need a license to be a rent a cop?

Do you carry a gun?... maybe you get a little bit more $ per hour for that.

In Canada you need your license (as well as CPR/First Aid) to get any work.

If you have decent size why dont  bounceyou at a stripclub instead of a boring hotel at least you will get laid.

Read my other thread. I'm lost close to 60 pounds. What size I had is GONE.

In FL. The course is for the gun part. As part of state statute, the only gun that a security guard can carry in FL is a .38 revolver or a 9mm pistol. Period. Mostly, they are Haitians. As a guy that helped teach these idiots how to shoot, I can confidently state that the safest place to be is in front of a FL security guard's gun.

Here in Canada, we have a union that is supposed to regulate the minimum wage a Security agency can pay you. This particular one is paying significantly less than all the others. They say it depends on what their client pays them that will determine what they pay their agents. That's complete bullshit. They are the only one that I know who pay their agents less. So far my phone hasn't been ringing off the hook with shifts from other agencies, but I know this one is taking advantage of it's agents by paying them below was the industry standard (it's competitors) pay.

We have a national minimum wage in the UK That has to be paid, though some don't.
They deliberately under pay in wages for 6 / 8 wks or as long as they can & claim it's
a wages office error, knowing that the gaurd will leave & then they have another lined
up ready to start.
These firms undercut the already poor charging rate for security to get the work in.
It makes it very tough on the guards & any chance of getting a better rate of pay.

Security is something you do while looking for something better. It's not a career.

This.

I promised myself I wouldn't get stuck in this industry. Its a good field to be in if you're in school or desperate and can't find a job but always have an escape plan for the future.

Seen too many dudes get stuck.

Depends. In house security (I.e not contract) can make somewhat decent money considering the minimum qualifications(high school diploma or equivalent). A regular shift supervisor at a hospital will be around 20-25 hr. Account managers usually get paid salary.

The money isn't great or even good but like I said - if you don't have a secondary education its not bad.

The shitty security jobs that pay crap are contract security - which unfortunately make up the bulk of the jobs available.
