no one's back garden looks like a very peaceful spot....love the fact that it just feeds into woods at the back...no neighbours.

actually that's the front yard.

it's not a typical house that faces the road. it's in from the road. so it's surrounded by what you see. very peaceful and tranquil.

that's molly. she loves to run. fast as a whip. dozer is more of a lay on the deck and chill type dog.

Empty park on a cold autumn morning, best time to run IMO. One draw back of the nice weather is that parks become busy.

Flashers preferred position of peace.

Although we have almost a 10,000 sq. ft. lot our back yard in narrow. Wish I we backed up to a green space instead of neighbors. There nice enough but a view into the woods would be nicer.

this is a look into what awaits my life tomorrow- piling wood away for the winter. this is abt a 1/4 of what I'll bring in and burn.

It's gonna be a cold one up there.

Wood stoves or fireplaces?

ya we're getting ready for a long winter.

2 airtights. one enviro kodiak 1700 insert in the main room and an old huge airtight in the basement.

the airtight in the basement heats the house- heat goes up thru the floor into the main room thru 2 intakes for the furnace right above it, and then I use the blower on the furnace to circulate the rest of the heat it puts out thru the ductwork.

last year we burned 22 cord. could have prolly burned 25+ given all of jan we were -20 every night of the month. I'll have 25 put away this month for the coming winter.

given the price of hardwood now I'm thinking of going pellet next year. do you hear w wood as well?

Minus the snow which we don't really get all too often, the skies are grey about 80% of the time here in northern England, this year excluded as it's been unusually warm and nice.
I'd love even half of your weather

I would happily give you half of my weather. I get tired of the summers and sun everyday. I also would love to have 4 seasons as opposed to summer and only spring.

Yes I can imagine if gets far too much at times, had a few days here this year where the heat was unbearable it must be ten times worse over there and I couldn't imagine cristmas day with red hot sunshine
To be fair if every year was like this one we would have the perfect weather here, this year we can look forward to and enjoy winder coming since we actually had a summer for a change

We definitely have four seasons in the Pacific Northwest. They are not as harsh as they can be in some other parts of the U.S. though. Normally summers are warm, but not hot. Spring and fall there is a fair amount of rain with comparatively mild temperatures. Occasionally in the winter it will get cold enough to snow, but that generally only lasts a couple of days.

Portland, OR Weather Facts

•July is the average warmest month.
•The highest recorded temperature was 106°F (41°C) in 1981.
•The average coolest month is December.
•The lowest recorded temperature was 8°F (-13°C) in 1989.
•The maximum average precipitation occurs in December.

The average annual low is 40°F (4.4°C) and the average annual high is 80°F (26.6°C). As you can see, we have a very mild climate. Some people get tired of the rain, but the rain is why everything here is so green and lush.
