Nobody ever hired Seagal to teach them anything, he latched onto them like a leech.  They just happened to be fans of his movies and he took that opportunity to weasel his way into PRETENDING to train them.  They were just polite so they indulged him.  You are obviously oblivious to techniques that washed up actors use in a desperate attempt to stay relevant.  Seagal is using any opportunity he can to remain in the spotlight, using a couple of UFC fighters to do so is just another ploy.  His latest one is to latch on to Vladimir Putin. Once the fighters realized what he was up to and taking credit for their hard work, they quickly distanced themselves from him.

Why on Earth would the most successful UFC champion NEED a B Grade actor to teach him how to fight.  Look Ropo, you obviously have a hard-on for Seagal and a deep need to believe that he is the real deal, but he is an ACTOR, not a fighter.  The idea that a portly Aikido guy taught two kicking masters a kick that is learned in every child's first karate class is absurd.  Don't forget, Seagal was chocked out by an old man and actually SHIT his pants, stinking up the place, all in front of dozens of witnesses.

Fellow Brazilian and top ranked UFC Fighter Damian Maia had this to say about the dubious relationship between the fighters and the B Grade movie actor. "The bloated fake martial artist and movie actor Steven Seagal has absolutely nothing to teach a real fighter like Silva, and everyone knows it. That’s a lie, it is marketing. He never taught anything to Anderson…it is a joke.”

This is a direct quote from Anderson Silva "Steven Seagal is good man. There’s no coach, no train me, but is good man. Just a good person, that’s it. … Yeah, I train the front kick for long time. I start to train martial arts for long time ago. Steven Seagal showed me the movement, the little movement, but don’t teach me this kick. Because I working hard for this kick for long time in my life."

HEY LYOTO, DO THIS

This, obviously... I think Seagal "training" Silva and Machida was mostly a publicity stunt, nothing more... Seagal is a movie star, not a fighter... Yes, he's the real deal and a master in Aikido, a self defence art useful against average joes at best... Regarding Lebell, no shame in being choked out by a judo master, MMA pioneer like him, although old... But it was Seagal's arrogance that put him in that situation, letting a guy like Lebell put a choke on him thinking that he could escape...

Apparantly no interviewer is allowed to probe him about lebell, if anyone steers in that direction he gets very aggressive.

Yup - no power in it whatsoever.

It's not even a martial arts technique. Don't think Aikido focuses much on kicking, but this is laughable.

Perhaps you missed the subtlety when he said "Well, if a guy soils himself, you can’t criticize him, because if they just had a nice big dinner an hour before, you might have a tendency to do that."  Gene is just being polite and avoiding any further embarrassment for Steven.  It wasn't Gene who spread the story but the witnesses on the set.

He wasn't rambling merely being humble feeling no need to brag about it.

AH: So, did that happen?

GL: You can't be bragadocious if you've done something. Everybody has their individual things that have happened. I personally don't think you should put down, as many people do with Steven, because he's trying to do his best.

AH: So does that mean, Gene, that you will not confirm this actually took place?

GL: "Well, if 30 people are watching, let them talk about it. You interview a boxer or a wrestler and its 'I, I, I' and 'me, me, me.' What do I know? Gene LeBell knows Gene LeBell. And if I tell ya the stories … everybody that tells you a story is the hero of their own story.

Also I heard Seagal claimed he was just using a famous CHI manipulation trick, he said shitting your pants is an effective way of preventing any further attack.   ;D

He went in a Back door simple as that , Rambled on like he forgot what he was saying. Talking about other things. No disrespect but he is an old man. Maybe confused about the old days on the mat.

LeBell is just like the rest. Promotes himself and the people "he" trained. No one system is the best, it´s about the Man behind it.

The folks LeBell mentioned, unless they were all invented by an old man's confusion. Why is it so hard to believe an experienced judo practitioner choked out an Aikido-trained movie star?

Is it your contention that Seagal is too skilled a fighter for this to have happened? You saw the front kick, right?

One man's story is all, no proof. Just wondering why you think he'd make it up? Totally possible, of course, but how do you think it'd go down if it did happen? Aikido on top?

Big Seagal fan, are ya?

I repeat it´s not the style but the Man. I like his Aikido yes but i am not a Fan of anyone. I have a Judo Background too as well as Aikido. Judo was the first system i took up. I see the benefits in both and so did Kenji Tomiki who combined both systems which is very popular today. Take the good points from both systems. Look at the Background of Judo it´s a synthesis of various schools of Traditional Jui Jitsu. The Kata at Dan level shows this.

the seagal/lebelle story is well known to anybody whos even remotely into MMA,SEAGAL threatened to sue lebelle and said he and his stunt men will never work in Hollywood again if the story goes out of that room.thats how the whole thing started, seagal was brutalizing lebelles guys(stuntmen) on the sets of his movies and they would go back and talk to gene about it. gene confronted seagal and seagal said something in the effect of genes style couldn't put rip van winkle to sleep never mind an aikido master like me, that's when gene made seagal piss and shit in his pants, I got nothing against seagal,im just telling what really happened.its just like the TITO ORTIZ story when lee murray knocked tito down in a bar in England, the tito fans just wouldn't believe it,they went into denial cause their hero got dropped. even tho matt hughes and pat militich saw it close up still the tito fans where saying its a lie, face it and accept it that it happened, seagal got showed up period. anybody on any givin day can get ko,d or choked out so what makes seagal different?

What do you think could be done to make martial arts like Aikido more effective outside the dojo?
