Everyone wants to love Clint Eastwood's movies. But after winning Best Director and Best Picture for 2004's "Million Dollar Baby," the actor-turned-director's self-seriousness has left his recent output feeling a little… dry. Sounding great on paper, "Flags of Our Fathers" "Invictus," "J. Edgar" didn't have the cinematic brawn to muscle Eastwood into the award season (though, it should be noted, that his riveting, un-Hollywood war movie "Letters from Iwo Jima" nabbed a Best Picture nomination). Will "American Sniper" be the one voters and critical voices finally get behind?

I wonder if that American Sniper is going to apply for disability like Navy Mike. Think he jams his toe in the movie.

I can't stand to look through a scope for an hour, I can't imagine doing 12-24 hours on it. No doubt it will be a good movie. That is one fine rifle platform though: .300 Win Mag.  IMHO surpassed only by the .338 Lapua.

The pressure of making decisions like this and live with it later must be fucking gruesome.

How do you sleep after a job like this?
Everytime you doze of you must think you are in someones scope. Till you figure out you are at home and ok

You are right. He is really something.

Great acting career and the even better director. The Unforgiven was exceptionally  well done.

Didn't Eastwood do Unforgiven and Gran Torino?

Those weren't bad movies?

It was an ok trailer but 'heart pounding' is a bit far fetched.

Navy Mike running right besides you. Treadmill set on highest incline at fastest pace. Working away that disability.

Trailer looks slick, looks exactly like the scene out of the book.

Looks like Eastwoods going to get it right.

I know youre giving him shit about his getting military disability, but dont. Everyone tries, and they should. The military beats the shit out of your body (especially if youre in a line unit), and those programs exist for a reason.

My grandfather has 100% disability from the Navy, he contracted cancer from agent orange in Vietnam, also has hearing loss, joint damage, etc.

Another friend i know has 40% disability from joint damage from running and humping with packs. They basically say the disability is the mikitary saying 'thanks for letting us fuck your body for the last 4-30 years"

If they have no disabilities that should prevent them from working and they are not truly disabled, no, they should not try. As stated in the video that was posted in the Navy Mike thread, this only makes it more difficult for veterans who really need it to get it.

They choose to join the military and with that choice, comes the assumption that youre body will take a pounding. If youre body takes a pounding to the point where you truly are disabled, then fine, apply. If youre not, then don't.

Thats why they have different ratings for levels of disability
Its not like you get disability or you dont. They have ratings from 10 to 100 based on how badly your damaged. Someone gettin 10% for hurt hearing, for instance, isnt getting a living wage for the rest of their life.

Military disability is there to compensate you for bodily harm that has occured during service that can affect your normal life, it has next to nothing to do with whether you can work or not.
