Lol Lou get's a special pass. Looking impressive for 45 years like that ain't easy. It's as if the drug technology has kept pace with his aging.

$20-shenanigans aside, Lou does look very good for 62. The guy has a full head of hair and a young looking face with no wrinkles. Being huge is unnecessary and truly serves no purpose whatsoever at that age.

Its always sad when u have achived more than average joe and age is cathing up! Any sportsmen, actor, singer whatever...the crash is inhuman!

More easy for average joe, who have achieved nothing but a daytime work, grey old, happy to finish job...

Or succes with brain is more easy to maintain than age...like professor, authours etc...u only get more and more status the older and more experienced you get, a better investment for ageing...no bitches though! Bcz u are ugly!

Why is it that triceps seem to be the first that go? Is it because that biceps get constant use (pulling) whereas the triceps and chest only get used when doing pushing movements, which people do less of when they get older?

I'm had the same question in this Arnold thread with some interesting views,

Re: Arnold Schwarzenegger - Muscle gallery

Great bicep insertions, but I wonder why most old men lose their triceps.
Ahnold, Lou, Ronnie, Dorian.. all of them :-\

Aging and higher insertions.
Except Dorian, he probably tore them the fuck up.

'higher insertions'? Wasn't Loui known for his long muscle bellies?
I understand that older people lose mass, but why esp in the tricep area?
Correct, Dorian tore one of them (or both?).

Arnold's arms are looking much bigger lately. Wonder if he is on HRT?

Triceps can atrophy because of injuries that cause sore elbows. When you have sore elbows that limits

doing anything heavy for the triceps.  My triceps are better than my biceps now at 72.

I'm pretty sure that Ahnold has TRT and HRT as well.

It sounds plausible that injuries def play a role, but is that the only major explanation, and are there ways to prevent/slow down this process?

Of course he has. From 45 / 50 age, it's very hard to lift weights naturally. A treatment is almost a necessity (libido, energy, quality of sleep, skin texture, reflexes, brain function, etc). Arnold can afford the best doctors and products.

Biceps become very fragile from the age of 40. My father broke one of his biceps with a wheelbarrow. So I am very careful: no sudden movements, no mixed grip during deadlift, a good warmup, very very light stretching, no barbell curl (only dumbell). I think the best way to keep the biceps in shape, is a relatively light training (10/15 reps). They respond well to the pump. Also, try to keep the shoulders and forearms healthy. Otherwise biceps try to compensate and tend to break.

That's why aging will be eradicated one day... Imagine being able to keep all the great human beings (scientists, artists, etc..) for 200 years. Society would progress at an even faster pace.

As for the pic... he looks way too young for his age wtf? Surgery?

Thanks man, of course age is a bitch and you loose some muscle and the organs
don`t  get younger with time, but if you can hang in there and donīt take the ``big shortcuts``.........then you can look OK for your age :)

PS: The pic in my avatar is from a few months ago too.

Have any advice, injury prevention wise, etc...?
Only the logical advises that we all know but often forget or that we
don`t care: stretching your muscles good
training your abs not just for beauty but for back health
if an excercise hurts or doesn`t feel right dont do it
don`t do max weights too often(or don`t  at all) etc etc
The last advise I did not followed for a long time, as I compited in powerlifting
for 20 years he he, but I was very lucky because I dont have major injuries, only
not so much flexibility in my knees anymore.I must say though that if you feel OK
with heavy training( not max weights),I believe it has its advantages.
