Clean vs junk
« on: February 16, 2006, 04:38:21 PM »
If i took identicle twins both the same height and bmi. All things being equal (training lifestyle etc) if one were to consume 3500 kcals from clean sources and the other twin was to consume 4400 kcals from junk food. Assuming protein consumed is equal who do you think would grow better. Im not asking who would weigh more at the end of say a year but who would have gained the most LMB?

If you were to eat "junk" from fast food then to me that means you're eating burgers, fries, onion rings, motzarella sticks, chicken nuggets and these such things, and maybe an occasional grilled chicken sandwich.  The clean bulker gains more LBM.  Even if you generally ate burgers, since ground beef is high in protein, your caloric intake for protein would only be 880 cals, or 220 grams protein.  This is enough protein for a typical male, but look at how much carbs and bad fats you're digesting as well.
Look at a nutrition label from your favorites and see for yourself.  On the right hand side of the screen is a list of leading fast food chains and pizza places.

I've junked bulked for before my 1st two shows. I started at 120lbs, and 8 months later i was 220lbs, fat as shit. I'm 5'5 btw. I cut down to 150 lbs in 4 months and was about 7% body fat. Then i junk bulked for 4 months and got to 220 and then i bulked with precontest food and maintained 220 for about another 4 months, I got leaner. Though my strenght wasn't coming up as fast. Then i went 3 months in precontest with 1-2 hours of cardio and ended up at 185lbs and 4% bf.
So I know you put on more muslce faster with junk bulking, however in the end you have to diet harder or longer: therefore, losing some muscle so you end up about with about the same gains as if you clean bulked and dieted for the same period of time. One way you can eat what you want but look like shit, the other is you look ok for most of your off season but you gotta eat cleaner.
