I was disappointed they didn't recreate that alleyway exactly but it's an alternative 1984, the punks are in it for example but styled differently. Reeses Nike trainers have been remade for the new movie and the gargoyles sunglasses from t1, so some elements will be the same and some not.

some of the cgi looks syfy channel-esque. which i don't mind on the syfy channel.. not for a fucking terminator film though

A Terminator-movie should always have top notch effects and CGI.

TV-show quality is just pitiful.

We'll just have to wait and see.

It's terrible what is going on with destroying classic in a ever growing pace. Not only contained to the Terminator franchise.

I do not know what will go last. I imagine Back to the Future can be difficult to make a quick buck out of because that series was so character driven.

But who knows, Speilberg might get eager to relive his success again like when he made the new Indiana Jones.

I went to the Australian premiere last night and have to say I really enjoyed it.

Arnold as the old terminator, "Pops" is brilliant. A few one liners and some great action scenes. The early part of the film with time travel etc takes a few minutes to get your head around.
The stars are cast a really well, especially Jai Courtney. John Connor 's character has an interesting twist and the new Sarah Connor is great.

The second half is where all the action is at and overall I think it will be a big hit.

I still have T2 as one of my all time favourite movies.

I'm late to this but just saw it.  Good movie.  That Emilia Clark gave me a hard on the entire movie.  Question though.  Once They destroyed Cyberdyne thus eliminating skynet from the future how did the T800 Arnold still exist?  Wouldn't he have never been made in the first place?

Yea i thought it was a good, solid action/sci/fi movie with some nods to the originals. In the credits you see skynet wasn't completely destroyed.

Old actors remind me of old boxers.

Old boxers fight too long and end up losing to guys they would have destroyed in one or two rounds in their prime.

Old actors go back to the well. They go back to where they had success. Tom Cruise is doing it now with too many Mission Impossible movies.

The problem is that they ruin (tarnish may be better) the cool stuff that they've done. The legacy and positive memory gets damaged.

Stallone has already, sadly, ruined the Rocky franchise.

Arnold is now doing it to the Terminator franchise.

It hurts the original Rocky and the first two Terminator films.

I don't see it like that, at the end of the day T1 and 2 will forever be classics and genius film making and nothing can take away from them. While the others will become obscure and somewhat forgotten, people will still hold those 2 in high regard another 20, 30, 40 years from now. Genisys was a good attempt and solid considering the crap that's put out today, it wasn't groundbreaking like t2 but they did very well in creating the digital arnold, probably the most life like cgi model of a human to date
