Isn't everything a bit weird over there? I think they've been strange for centuries, look at how they dress up flamboyantly and sing with strange high voices. The technology just accelerated the pace and extended the possitbilites for them to be even wierder.
That being said, the commercial before the last one, in the first vid, is hilarious 
Their sociaty is very homogenized, so u can call it very advanced. They are taught to not stand out and obey the rules from early on. Japan has the lowest crime rate. Japanese tourists don't lock their doors in hotels, cause they trust other guests.
They will always stand in the line and never try to get in front. They line up for buses and trains, it's kinda fascinating. Drawback would be, people are too boring.
They live up their fantasies behind doors though. Like the ads or how they portray themselves in manga/anime. They would never behave like that in real life.
