Even sadder, he just was happy to be around his owners, enjoying the burgers, the water, the attention, not knowing he only had hours to live... I cried like a bitch reading it, having 2 cats I loved put down due to a brain tumour and kidney failure brought all the memories flooding back

I don't get it. Not to diminish the life of this animal but sounds like a pretty good last day of life.

This dog didn't even have to contemplate it was about to die.

Most people go through a lot worse mental and physical pain for a longer duration as their bodies give out.
