I had to pick up a stack of her songs this week.  Insanely easy stuff, musically.

I guess she's just another musical product.  hard working... what does she put out, ten singles a year?   Insane.

LOL!  I don't play with a regular band these days.  I'm more of a high-powered for-hire guitarist/bassist.  I am offered 5-6 things a week and I accept 1-2 of them. 

Playing in a katy Perry tribute act is on the menu.  Triple the money of playing anything local.  Only a few shows a month, but worthwhile.  So yeah, lol, I had to pick up 20 of her songs.  Easy, easy stuff.  I think of the time it took me to learn solos to "Crazy Train" or "Hotel California"... compared to picking up 20 Perry songs in 2 days lol.

OK, this has gone from bad to worse. I had no idea you play gigs, lol! EVen less play songs from her, lol!

But I guess playing music is something you love and getting paid to do it is still better than posing naked in front of some dude.

LOL... usually it's dave mathews or Rick astley music... playing corporate dinners at ritz carlton or weddings. Love it. (bass)
now and then, it's white zombie and kid rock, at a dive bar. (lead guitar)
the corporate stuff, tribute bands... the $ is insane, the shows are under 90 minutes and the music is easy. (guitar and keys)

I'm NOT a fan of perry's music by any means, BUT I will say that in most cases, entirely lame music is 100x more fun when it's live band and I'm part of creating it.  I don't hear the campy radio version "I got the eye of the tiger...".   Instead, I hear a guitar power chord with moderate distortion, the bass and drums hitting on 1, tight harmonies, and a crowd.  It's different.  I play music I hate sometimes, but when you're playing it, things get easier.

You really describe it well and sounds like fun man, glad you make coin and enjoy yourself. I know a guy who plays guitar and does wedding gigs and festivals and was very surprised to hear the money he makes.

Gonna be less and less real life musicians as people play "guitar hero" instead of real guitar, lol! Now you're reminding me of the fact I always wanted to play guitar, ah, who hasen't?...

Oddly now have Rick Ashley music in my head with the shoulder pads and funny 80's dance he does, lol...
