Maybe you're trying to force the ROM? Im about the same size as you and I had the same problem until I realized the ROM for the leg press isn't all that large. Just go down right before your back starts to bend and it'll be all on your legs. When I first started lifting I tried to go all the way down and realized that it takes some load off your legs and puts it on your lower back.The problem with my gym is they have a leg press with the platform that is straight and diagonal, and my size 14.5 clown shoes can't fit on either one
