Not even close, short of their chemical structures.  Very effective at relieving nasal congestion, though

Since major league baseball cracked down on greenies(speed), over 100 baseball players got a prescription for ADD and can take assorted meds legally. Everyday athletes of all the major sports are getting their doctor to prescribe them ADD meds...The number of people is growing daily...

Is it relatively easy to get a prescription?

Yea the sad thing is these meds are handed out like candies. Go to a psychiatrist if you can't and say you can't stop zoning out at work and it's always been extremely hard to focus on something for prolonged periods of time. You could also ask your general doctor and depending on how he or she feels they may test you themselves for it or send you to a psychiatrist to get tested before you get prescribed

Disagree, in my experience and from what I've heard from others.

The 5% of children with ADHD can be diagnosed at a young age....the symptoms will be obvious around age 8, if not earlier.  So for someone in their 20s or 30s to come in and complain about an inability to focus, for the first time in their life, will probably be treated with suspicion.

Some get lucky of course, but it's not a medication that I would consider to be "easy" to get prescribed

I have. I like the stuff. It is mild but it does help you train anything that dexongests you like pseudo will help athletic performance. the drugs like pure ephedrine or ephedra are to strong for me at this age of 32 but I can handle pseudo just fine and I think it is effective at just a 30mg-60mg dose. In Oregon we can;t buy pseudo anymore over the counter we have to get a prescription from our doctor or drive to washington where you can legally buy 8 boxes a month over the pharmacy counter. Too many guys cook meth with it in Oregon so we canlt buy it anymore over the counter fucking sucks!

If you need something to focus get Provigil(Modafinil).  Far better drug than adderall, and no sides, non-addictive, unlike adderall, which is highly addictive.  Fully focused and alert for 12-15 hours with no crash.

I'm too scared to use the harder stuff, but I'm taking Ritalin XR for studying. It really wears off quickly so I can just imagine how quickly you build a tolerance to the harder stuff and how addicted you get.

I've got a long road ahead of me, so I might try shooting for a Modafinil script. I wouldn't just want to buy any of these meds off the street without having a script. Seems like some nasty shit if you had to come off cold turkey. Would much rather buy it in a pharmacy.

Never taken anything more than 30mg/vyvanse. Never taken adderall or Ritalin but they're all pretty much the same. I don't really get "high" on these drugs. The only thing I notice is a great mood increase, I become more talkative, can focus much more and much longer, and when I take it in mornings im wide awake in 20 minutes no matter how tired I am. I've never tried to go higher in dosage but im assuming that it's pretty easy to get high off this stuff. I have a prescription for it but I've never abused it or tried to get high off of it I just use it for school but it definitely helps in my everyday life

It's pretty tough to get insurance to cover Modafinil.  I have sleep apnea diagnosed with a sleep study and I still had to get a prior authorization for it.  Without insurance it is $910.00 for 30 pills, with insurance $50.00. Only way to get it prescribed is for sleep apnea, narcolepsy, or shift work sleep disorder.  It honestly has changed my life.  Excellent drug, no sides, no addiction potential.  Amazing for studying, work, etc.  Far better drug than Adderall.  Modafinil will give a nice lift in mood, but not the rush of euphoria or crash you get with Adderall.

I hate shopping for drugs. I honestly think I have shift worker syndrome though. Been on parental leave for 6 months and I still feel tired. Thyroid is fine and I'm in the best shape of my life. A decade of shift work fucks you up.

My doctor is pretty cool so in hoping I can get a script. I go back to work in the new year so once my benefits are back my insurance should cover virtually all the cost as I pay for the highest coverage. It's always nice getting scripts that cost more than $1000 and having the pharmacist print a receipt which shows my cost of $0.00. 8)

I read about people having problems with their liver using Modafinil.

They're more than likely using adrafinil, which is not Modafinil, but apparently converts to something similar to it when ingested, but is known to cause liver issues in some people.  Modafinil is a very safe compound and is not a new drug.  Been around since the mid 90's.  Personally never had any issues with it, other than quite a bit more gas than usual.

You should be good to go if you work odd shifts.  Probably have to get a prior authorization from your doc, which he should do.  Check it out, it's well worth it.

it has no methamphetamine in it. It is lysdexamphetamine, lysine bound to dextroamphetamine, the lysine reduces abuse. Meth is much worse and has a different mechanism of action.

my comment was backhanded and was meant to parallel the addictive nature of both.

anyone who is on the stimulants for such a long time - take a break - from everything - caff, ECA, adderall, and alcohol too.

ya might feel shocked at how amazing, how CALM you feel without that stuff.

AND if you've been trying to gain muscle - get off all the upper stuff, hit the gym hard, watch your metabolism drop and your appetite skyrocket.
