Getbiggers how do you balance work and training?
« on: November 10, 2014, 10:57:21 PM »
Well? ???

I graduated this May and begun full time at the end of July. Somehow from then on, it's gone downhill with the training. A lot of things could be attributed to getting my first full time salary, it felt quite intoxicating going from barely enough to pay student literature and food to be able to buy pretty much whatever I want.

The problem is though, as time goes by, it gets worse and I realise that I can't neglect the training to the current extent. How do you manage social life/family life with work and training? Currently I'm pretty much cutting sleep hours to get back into things, working out 6 days a week and no more crisps and fizzy pops at work.

Well it's pretty complicated.  You see, first I go to work, and then when I'm done, I go to the gym for my workout.

And then lastly I have relations with your mother.

Keep in mind you will never really look all that great.

But congrats on your degree, I never knew you had to be educated to a professional "one of the smaller guys".

Get it out of the way first thing in the morning before work.

If you have a shit day or have to work late then it's no biggie, workouts already done.

P.S. I fucked your mother as well.

I do the same thing, but in reverse...

I start with his mom.

If you are complaining about balancing work with training just wait until you have kids.  :(

QFT.

I workout in the morning, in my home gym, before anybody else gets up. Of course, the downside is that I have to go to bed at 2100 every night. No nights in "da club" for this guy.

this is when it is determined whether you love to lift or if it's just a hobby.  I work 50 hrs/ wk and I have 5 children ages 4 mo to 13 yrs.  I get up at 4 am everyday to train just so I may be able to get an uninterrupted workout.

I force myself to go outside and exercise/run which it's pitch black and cars swerve at me and shit.

I need to figure out how to make morning work.

I get up around 1:30 or so and train between 2:30 and 3:30.  Sometimes later.  Physical culture is part of my life and has been for nigh on 40 years.  I also take time off when I realize it's needed.

Hit the gym immediately after work before you get into lazy mode. That's what I did when I worked days. Working nights I would sleep and hit it when I woke up.

Having a home gym helps if you're not completely lacking in discipline. Get some Iron Master Dumbbells and his all in one bench. Takes up little room. If space is really limited use powerblocks and their simple bench. You can really get a lot done with little equipment. Everyone seems to think you have to do 4 exercises a body part. A barbell, adjustable dumbbells, squat rack, and a bench will give you all you need.

I always made it a priority to workout through insane schedules and family life.

Not all of us have the luxury of living off Queen residuals while taking a dirt nap.

I train 4 years on, 1 year off system.   Resting the central nervous system is important.

Never had kids, never wanted any and I'm in my 4th marriage.
Having kids is a major personal decision and not to be taken lightly.

You have now begun down the career path where your value has nothing to do with doing mandatory poses.
It's also obvious, that your value to others has next to nothing to do with your ab cuts or bicep mass.

You now know, just how skewed the core values of the hardcore gym rats are compared to most of the world.
