I saw Scottie Pippen (legit 6'7" in shoes) at a mall in Chicago when I was a teenager, he looked like a giant space alien.  It's easy to forget how tall these guys are because we only ever see them on TV next to other really tall people.  Even the "short" guys in the NBA are not short, for example Chris Paul is listed at 6'0" and Steve Nash 6'3".  Both are probably exaggerated by an inch or two but they're still pretty tall by average population standards.  Nash looks like a squirt on TV but he would tower over most getbiggers.

I'm 6'1" and it's rare that I see people taller than me. Sure there are some, but it isn't often that I have to look up to people. 6'3" is pretty damn tall.

I live in germany and I would guess that about 15% of males at my age are my height or taller ( 6"3 )
