If there is one thing you need to learn which I learned a long time ago about gambling and how to be a winner it can be paraphrased in this sentence below and this sentence alone.

"You ain't getting rich, betting like a bitch"

Lets expand on this a little bit more and what I mean.

Forget maths, throw form in the toilet, Forget game theory, forget implied odds.....throw all that shit in the garbage can right now.

Any moron with half a brain cell should inherently understand those things inside out before they ever even place a bet, that is NOT what separates winners from losers.

The simple reality is you cannot mathematically beat 99% forms of gambling in the long term unless:

a) you have inside knowledge
b) are somehow cheating or have an edge which turns around the house odds.

Of course I am talking about house games such as blackjack, roulette, craps, horse-racing, baccarat....or anything else where the long term odds are stacked against you.
Before you tell me well you can count cards in blackjack, it is virtually impossible to do these days and even if you could do it now I have covered that already by point a) and point b) above.

The only game which is exception to the above rules is Poker (I will cover that later or in a separate thread), too complex for the scope of this thread for now.
I am talking here about PURE gambling.

Now where does that leave us given the above factors????

a) only play for entertainment and think about is as a night out to blow a couple hundred bucks like 90% of the population do???

NO FUCK THAT, I REPEAT
FUCK THAT...........I WOULD DIE RATHER THAN GIVE THE MAFISIO CASINOS a dime of my children's inheritance and make them richer in the name of entertainment.

I am in it to WIN.

IF you have followed my thought pattern so far you should have already come to the obvious conclusion which is this:

YOU CAN ONLY WIN AND BEAT THOSE GAMES IN THE SHORT TERM.

The question you should be asking now is so when does the short term become the long term and how you do classify the short term?

That is a complicated question I am not going to answer here right now because its far beyond the scope of this thread and its not how I look at it anyway.

You need to have the right mentality and think about the problem from my perspective.

I don't classify the "short term" in terms of "time"
I classify it in terms of money wagered in relation to frequency of those wagers.

The odds of the roulette ball landing on red or black will always be the same regardless of money wagered.

It does not matter to the roulette wheel if you bet 10 bucks, 100 bucks, 10,000 bucks or a million (taking into account table limits)...I will cover table limits later.

Say you have $200 bucks to play with. What exactly are you trying to achieve betting $10 or $20 at a time, you might win a few hundred here or there, maybe even a couple of grand:

BUT IS THAT SMALL WIN GOING TO HAVE ANY LIFE CHANGING VALUE TO YOUR LIFE.....THE ANSWER IS NO, NOT REALLY.,REMEMBER WE ARE HERE TO WIN AND TO WIN BIG

Now say you have 2,000K to play with and happen to make it up to 10k.....yes its nice BUT IS THAT WIN GOING TO HAVE ANY LIFE CHANGING VALUE TO YOUR LIFE? Answer is probably not.

Now say you have 20,000K to play with and take it up to 100K........wow...now thats a new car, or deposit on a house....now we are getting somewhere...finally.

Imagine you are betting with 100k and take it up to a million........wow.....f uck me.....thats a nice house right there, a Bentley.......

Get where I am going with this....

The roulette wheel does not understand how much you are betting and only will let you win in the short term.

MAKE THE SHORT TERM COUNT SO THE AMOUNT YOU WIN IN THE SHORT TERMS CAN HAVE A BIG IMPACT IN YOUR LIFE WHEN YOU DO WIN, YOU WIN BIG ENOUGH NOT TO HAVE TO BET AGAIN FOR LONG TIME, THAT IS HOW TO WIN IN THE SHORT TERM AND ONLY WAY TO BEAT THE HOUSE

DONT BET FOR A WHOLE YEAR.....SAVE UP MONEY AS MUCH AS YOU CAN RATHER THAN BETTING SMALL....YOU WILL ALWAYS LOSE THAT WAY.

SAVE UP 50K OR 100K AND THEN HAVE THE BALLS TO GO ALL OUT AND BET FUCKING BIG...AND WIN BIG...

MAKE THE WIN COUNT SO YOU DONT HAVE TO KEEP DOING IT

COS LONG TERM YOU WILL LOSE THAT WAY....

"You ain't getting rich, betting like a bitch."

Professional gamblers don't play "house games" well not in a "professional" capacity anyway.

There is no such thing as "short term" professional gambling. You can get lucky/unlucky in the short term. the "odds" can't be beaten long term.

No EPT's or anything hugely major on the tournament scene.
I have one of the best all time records at the Vic for the smaller tournaments, talking like £50-500 Freeouts, won many of those.

But generally speaking I was always a cash game player not particularly interested by tournaments.
But I am going to be concentrating now more on tournaments since the cash action in London is pretty dried up at the moment.

I much prefer playing in Vegas where I have huge choice of poker rooms/stakes to play in.

I think that is generally true to say that house games are not their bread and butter but more of a case of either taking shots with spare money or conversely trying to get out of a hole when they are down in other gambling formats  etc.

Having said that there are a number of notable exceptions, guys like Archie Karas (won 40 million on dice), TJ Cloutier, Phil Ivey etc but again they come into it with pretty massive bankrolls which makes life much easier of course than the struggling average punter.

Obviously many professional sports betters, generally layers etc which changes the picture somewhat on the betting exchanges etc.

PS. You still keep in touch with Bushey?

I haven't bumped into Gary for quite some time, probably about 2-3 years maybe.
Last time I saw him, he was playing at the Western looking a bit scruffy  :D
I generally only play cash at the Palm if I am gonna play in London....he doesn't go there much or I haven't seen him

He was a mad punter back in the day, always had wads of cash falling out of his pocket....

Ram lives in my block, few doors down from me, I see him pretty much everyday, train at the gym sometimes

tbh I don't think bushy ever really gave a fk about clothes or how he looks , has always been a bit scruffy lol

I know ram pretty well too, used to all knock around in same snooker club when growing up, haven't seen him for years though.
I heard he had a bought a nice house (1mill or so) a good few years back with his missus and had a kid or two, i'm guessing he must have split with the missus if living in your complex as seems more 'batchelor paddy' , I used to be a member of the gym in your place a few years ago

Haha....Gary was always piss taker...funny bloke...lol
Fucking hell, small world, yeah Ram literally lives next block from me, I see him taking his kids to school everyday, same exact place your thinking of with the Virgin active gym and got Zak's Pumping Iron Gym as well 100 yards down the road.
My pad was Tulisa's old gaff.
Ram is wicked snooker player as you know, where did you guys play? In Collindale or Wembley?
I used to play with all them boys, Joe, Barny, Ross, Gary Jones, Tony Bloom from way back in Sergent Cecil days in Luton, to Stacki's down Russel Sq and then Vic.
Played with Barny few months back at the Hippodrome Omaha 4-5-6, we were pissed as a fucking skunk in the end, game got short handed 4 players, we must have been playing 48 hours str8... :D
Pop down and say hello if you are ever around mate.

it was an Esporta gym in there when I was member ,was a few years ago now!
I knew ram before he was in Hendon mob etc , Finchley was the snooker club . I even think ram may have owned it for a while. is shut down now, all sorts of sht going on there back in the day lol

I never really played much live poker but I made quite a nice little chunk playing online over a few years, so don't really know many of the poker scene faces , met a few through bushy, like willie tann and a few others. I did have a pretty good record live though, played cash game at the palm beach once with bushy and nicked a few grand. I also nicked about 7k in a tournament in brighton, nice casino that overlooking the marina. I only really played live a handful of time though.

yeh I will pop down maybe one day, would be nice to say hello to ram again too

Yes mate Esporta got turned into Virgin Active now and I know what you mean about the snooker clubs, used to play down Kilburn snooker club but only poker, it was a loony house back then.
I am a live cash player don't play internets. Palm Beach is probably best place to play if you wanna play bigger, smaller the Vic obviously.
I know Willie very well (unfortunately), still owes me money, but that goes for about the whole of London so I am not mad....lololol
Yeah thats the Roudevouz Casino in Brighton you are talking about, nice gaff, I like Brighton.
Barry Martin the owner of Gutshot/International club runs a gaff there now.....yeah definitely bell me if you are around this way.

Haha that would be hilarious, bring him.
To be honest the Gym is ok, just a regular commercial gym, not very busy etc.
Dumbells only go up to 50 kilos.

If you fancy it we can go down to Zack's gym, Pumping Iron, proper hardcore bodybuilding gym and tons of good peoples and competitors etc.
