Any getbiggers ever use floor leveling compound

Gotta level out a sloping kitchen floor. I'm handy with stuff. Floor joists r solid. The floor is not sagging. The previous owner added on to the house n the addition was just a bit higher so where the floors connect there is a bit of a slope. I have to level out about 10x12 space with about a a half inch to 3/4 inch diff from one side to the other.

I put some leveler down on my lower level slab. I put a wood floor down.That shit sets up pretty fucking fast! You have to work it quick or you are screwed. At least the one I used was like that. Good luck.

For 120 sq feet wouldn't it be easier to lay down new subfloor? You can get 3/4 inch press board. I've used floor leveling compound but I was under the impression it was for smaller areas and gaps.

Just skim it with grout level it out  i used the leliling compound once maybe it was a shitty brand

correct. That's my other n frankly easier option. I don't want to rip up the subfloor although that's the correct way. Sister the joists n raise them a bit. Maybe I should do that but I may just get 3/4 ply to 1/4 n lay that down. Need it flat enuff to linoleum for rental.

So the whole floor isn't sloping, there's just a ramp installed to marry the original floor to the botched floor height of the extension?  Why not just remove the ramp and nail down another skin of ply?  If you start needing 1/16 inches you'll have to shim & glue but you won't have to carry 1/16 across the whole room so it'll just be at the transition.

Won't you just end up with a step up into the newly raised area from somewhere else tho?  Maybe that ramp is there because council won't approve a 'step' below a certain height as a trip hazard.  Don't forget the baseboards.

I think floor leveling compound is intended for very thin skim coats on concrete slabs.  You need a carpentry solution if you're ply on joists.

Buying some thinner ply would let you install 'click 'n fit' urethane coated flooring which is very cheap and you can't scratch with a stanley knife!  It's pretty ordinairy looking stuff but miles ahead of lino.
