The Democrat-controlled Senate has defeated a bill to approve the Keystone XL oil pipeline. The Senate's 59-41 vote Tuesday night was a nail-biter to the end. The bill needed 60 votes to reach the White House. The House passed it overwhelmingly last week. President Barack Obama did not support the bill, but the White House has been mum on whether or not he will veto it.

Repubs have 45 seats right now, I think?   Why only 41 NO?
And Dems currently have 53 seats... why 59 votes YES?

Are some repubs playing footsie with obama?

The GOP has been killing legislation by default since Obama got elected even a fucking veterans bill.

But nice to see you care more about big oil than the people of the US military.

Once again you are a pathetic human being.

It sounds to me as if 14 Dems joined 45 GOPers on this one.

With Harry Reid's hide safe as MINORITY LEADER in the next congress, the Dems have basically thrown Mary Landrieu to the wolves. They've pulled their ads; they're not giving her much money; and now you have this.
