The case of "Steve Arce" is fascinating.  Was it a long-running gimmick account, with the aim of scamming getbiggers for $1-2000?  Or was this really the account belonging to Steve, only to be hijacked for monetary gain?  Or perhaps Steve needed the money and purposely set up a scam?

Pretty interesting--so long as you didn't give him any money

Reminds me of the time I let a buddy borrow $1,500 and it turned into me just giving him the money, lol.

Hey that's all good, but I don't think it'd be too much to ask to check in and let your benefactor's know what has been going on.

It just seems suspicious to ask for money and to disappear right afterwards.

There was only one occasions where I "lent" money to someone who was down and out. Although it was considered a loan I never expected to get it back any time soon. I would only lend money to someone very close to me and paying  me back I considered optional but I always presented as a loan as a way for that person to save face. It wasn't easy for this person to ask for money but when you get desperate pride takes a back seat.

I've always like Steve and he was one of my favorites on this board. Always positive and never a shit talker. I never really followed all the details of his situation but I do remember something about GBers donating money to him. I remember OMR confirming the veracity of Steve's story but I never really knew what it was.

Steve was on this board for a very long time so he's no gimmick and there was no grand plot to shake down the board.
