It's a good example of mass hysteria. People are swept up in this because of emotion not reason.

I wish that cops start wearing cameras soon.

I think that if the public had seen what exactly occurred between Wilson/Brown... None of the rioting would have happened

I do too.  Think about the black fire fighter who claimed he was being treated harshly by a cop but it turned out he wasn't.  How about the black actress who claimed she was being assaulted by racist cops.  Without video both of those incidents would have gone much further.

He didn't die because he stole Swisher Sweets, he died because he attacked an armed cop.

Does the truth even matter to these zombies?  I've come to refer to these idiots as Ferguson Truthers. Not Devon but the rioters.

Thousands of people chanting "Hands up, don't shoot" when that didn't even happen.

We could have video of OJ actually stabbing the two victims and they would still riot...A lot of these people see rioting as "partying"...No different than many Main streets across the country having a Winter Stroll where people come out and gather. These riots are a gathering for a lot of these people...

Thousands of people chanting "Hands up, don't shoot" when that didn't even happen😰.

It looks like mass psychosis to me.

It’s one of the great assumptions underlying modern democracy that an informed citizenry is preferable to an uninformed one. “Whenever the people are well-informed, they can be trusted with their own government,” Thomas Jefferson wrote in 1789. This notion, carried down through the years, underlies everything from humble political pamphlets to presidential debates to the very notion of a free press. Mankind may be crooked timber, as Kant put it, uniquely susceptible to ignorance and misinformation, but it’s an article of faith that knowledge is the best remedy. If people are furnished with the facts, they will be clearer thinkers and better citizens. If they are ignorant, facts will enlighten them. If they are mistaken, facts will set them straight.

In the end, truth will out. Won’t it?

Maybe not. Recently, a few political scientists have begun to discover a human tendency deeply discouraging to anyone with faith in the power of information. It’s this: Facts don’t necessarily have the power to change our minds. In fact, quite the opposite. In a series of studies in 2005 and 2006, researchers at the University of Michigan found that when misinformed people, particularly political partisans, were exposed to corrected facts in news stories, they rarely changed their minds. In fact, they often became even more strongly set in their beliefs. Facts, they found, were not curing misinformation. Like an underpowered antibiotic, facts could actually make misinformation even stronger.

And the fact that you didn't read through the whole thread and a post saying that I was trolling shows your stupidity.

This may sound like a dumb question, but I am curious what the Latino/a population makes of this situation. I know at times they have aligned with black people during these situations, but they seem to be absent from the more recent incidences. I wonder what their thoughts and emotions are related to these incidences.

Even the founding fathers thought they would get it right at least 3/5th of the time.

Depends, if they are of black/mixed origin or how they feel. And where they come from. Many come from areas where the police take more bribes than the politicians, and in many cases work for the politicians. Remember, the Latino population is the next population ripe for voter/politician exploitation. This can play out in a bad way for either political party. For Latinos could see this as "well, this is what we are going to expect?" And it may turn the tide. More mass demonstrations, or slowly but surely, a mass exodus to their former countries, thinking that it's better to deal with issues there, than get involved in the issues here.

"Dr." Shawn Parcells, the guy who started the whole "hands up" thing, has been totally discredited.

Quote
“If they want to think I’m a doctor, that’s their issue,” Parcells told CNN. “People assume stuff all the time. And they may never ask. It’s bad that they’re assuming and that they never asked. If they want to think I’m a physician, then more power to them.”

Is there a difference between leaving the house and robbing a store?
