Something that would help prevent the eye pokes a bit. I don't know if they even have anything in mind yet. I am a fan of the fact that the gloves are light, but the eye pokes are getting crazy.

Fully agree but the ref that missed that poke totally sucks.  I don't understand why he is even in the ring.

i gave hendricks octagon control cause he clearly controlled the center of the octagon up until rd 4 that is, he did have the takedowns also but he didnt do NOTHING with them so i cant give him EFFECTIVE GRAPPLING cause he never acheived the mount position. i think lawler wasnt himself though and seemed gun shy just because he knew hendricks got awesome takedowns,if u look at robbys last fight against mat brown robby was swinging harder and with alot more power. if hendricks would of did something with those takedowns then yes i think it would of made a difference, hendricks did look good in the striking in rds 2 and 3 though, but his FLICK OUT SLAP right jab is pretty much what he was catching robby with and not his signature STRAIGHT LEFT HAND that does the dirty work for him.robby did look like he was trying to press the fight though and i gave him the aggressivness edge, only thing hendricks did as far as having effective strikes was the leg kicks he caught robby with, other than that he really didnt hurt robby at all in the fight. to be honest i wasnt sure how the judges where going to see this one, after all it is the UFC and ive seen some crazy ass decisions in my day.plus the way hendricks held robby up against the fence and did not do much wasnt looking good in the judges eyes especially when the crowd starts to boo, believe it or not that does influence some judges.hendricks did take him down once or twice from the fence but robby was right back up so that didnt count for much, alot of people forget that some judges dont really score takedowns to much unless a fighter acheives side control or gets full mount,or he can stay in half guard but do alot of damage, that really helps to score points in the judges eyes. as DANA always says try not to leave it in the judges hands, johnny should of learned that lesson from the GSP fight and tried harder to finish robby

they been trying to create a glove to solve that eye poke problem for some time now, the few ideas they came up with puts the grappler at a severe disadvantage,it almost looked like a boxing glove just smaller, its really hard to grapple with a boxing glove, believe me i tried.hopefully they will come up with a perfect glove though

When Hendricks lost to GSP they said he had to stop him to beat the champion even through he beat the shit out of him. So now he has to stop a challenger even though one could argue he won at least three rounds?

I give up.

3 rounds to 2 to Hendricks, but he never closed out, but then Robbie never let go either for fear of the takedown, Johnny needs to find some killer instinct or go plough fields, he could have beaten Robbie IMO much more convincingly he's just to nice, hes been robbed now twice IMO, if that doesn't make you train and fight a lot harder nothing will, bring on 3 when hopefully both will take a few more risks and make it a much better fight.

i agree with u about the old saying of (u got to stop the champ to beat him cause most of the time the challenger will never get the decision over the champ)hendricks just seems to not b liked by the judges very much for some reason,in the GSP fight hendricks clearly beat the shit out of him,i dont care what the scoring looked like, all i know is if 2 guys walked outside a bar and after the fight one looked like gsp and the other like hendricks id say hendricks kicked that dudes ass pretty bad.also people got to realize robby had a lot of hype and momentum coming into this fight, some guys (like hendricks)just aint got any luck when it comes to the judges score cards, not that luck should score a fight but u guys know what i mean

You need to watch this fight without the sound on because Joe Rogan was biased big time on Hendricks side.

Didn't affect me one bit as I was pulling for Lawler. But I saw what I saw, and it looked like Hendricks was on offense the whole time, picking Lawler apart.

If Lawler fought more of the fight like he did the last 30 seconds he would have killed Hendricks. I missed the first round but the fight I saw, Hendricks picked Lawler apart and easily won that fight.

Of course, but that was less than a minute of a five round fight. Should have pressed him that hard earlier.

Great assessment. This is what makes me feel like MMA is getting like BB when it comes to scoring..sad.

That was a good fight.  Now it looks even more like a set up.

When gsp was gifted a win over Hendricks, Dana said some bullshit along the lines of "in order to be the champ you must clearly beat the champ" ::)
What a joke lol, gsp would lay on top of his opponents for 5 rounds straight but was always given the W. I'm starting to dislike Dana white more and more.

Theres nothing to like about Dana White as a person, but hes earned respect from a business point of view, but in saying that the UFC has peaked, lets see how he manages the next year or two, going to need more than WWE  retirees to keep the interest as high.

Rounds 2 & 3 were definite Hendricks rounds.  Rounds 4 & 5 were definite Lawler rounds.  Round 1 was the interesting round.  I gave it to Lawler.  I have no problem with either guy winning by
a score of 3-2.  Hendricks is a dumbfuck.  He was winning the exchanges when they were standing up.  Those pathetic attempts at take downs cost him.  They were completely ineffective and
I would argue counter effective.  Big time.  Robbie stuffed them all except for maybe 1 and leaned on him for minutes at a time while attempting to pound on him.  The leaning on Hendricks wore Hendricks down.
Hendricks didn't act or look like he won after 5 rounds.  Ask yourself who would you rather be after this fight?  Undeniably, Robbie Lawler.  Congratulations to the NEW WELTERWEIGHT CHAMPION OF THE WORLD.  RUTHLESS ROBBIE LAWLER.  :)

interesting eyepokes werent common back then not even in pancrase with the open hand strikes
