Advertisers leaving bodybuilding sites - RX downsizing
« on: December 07, 2014, 01:03:10 PM »

Excerpt from Dave Palumbo's decision to downsize.

"And now it’s time for Rx Muscle to evolve once again and get back to its roots; that which made it great and fun and such a “great ride”. As of Monday Dec 8, 2014, Rx Muscle has downsized it’s staff and consolidated its resources and will now focus on giving the fans the most hardcore, in-your-face reporting and content you’ve all grown to love from us in the past. Why am I doing this at this point in time? Well, the sad truth is that Rx Muscle pays its bills based entirely on advertising dollars, and without the advertiser’s support, there can be no content. For whatever unexplained, unfathomable, reason, over the last 12 months, most of the advertisers have pulled their support of Rx Muscle; and sadly, I can no longer afford paying the salaries and travel expenses necessary to run the website the way it was done in the past. Rx Muscle has tremendous traffic and countless daily hits to the website, yet companies are choosing not to support the effort. This saddens me; especially in light of the fact that magazine sales continue to plummet and most are on the verge of bankruptcy."

Bodybuilding is about to finish the full circle. From underground to underground. Death of bodybuilding is near.

Maybe the "tremendous traffic and countless daily hits" was not real

I don't give a shit about 'hardcore' or competitive bodybuilding. Muscular development etc, I don't read that crap. I can't stand the bodybuilding.com movement either with all those fake naturals and their 'scientific training and eating'. Those people seem to think that they are elite athletes and even worse think that recreational bodybuilders need to be 'optimal' in everything they do and live bodybuilding 24/7. So you have a bunch of 16 year old kids worrying about things like whey vs casein etc. What a joke.

I'd much rather read about guys with street physiques who are interesting characters. Combine that with some good information about nutrition and training without turning it into a science speculation blog.

Good! Hope bb crashes and burns.

The Mr Olympia as it stands today is shot!

Misery and crap physiques.

Maybe it can rise anew like a phoenix in a brand new suit

With the hard core gutted and health and beauty as a substitute

I actually like watching muscle in the morning. I think it should be called something else since it rarely gets uploaded every morning, but still a good overview of what's going on in the bodybuilding world.
Rx actually has pretty good coverage, especially video-wise, better than MD even. Does Flex even do video anymore? They seem to have dropped off the face of the earth.

What everyone needs to acknowledge is that RX MUSCLE might have less advertisers right now......we might have staff and community immaturity.........we might have people who offend anyone and everyone..........we might not be politically correct all the tiime..... we might be too honest........... we might not even "make sense"......but we got one thing "right"........everyone wants to know what we're saying..... and whether they post here or not... advertise here or not......... admit they look at the site or not.......... THEY'RE ALL HERE WATCHING WHAT WE DO NEXT........and that my friends is called an "audience"....... And I have a special message for our audience: "You ain't seen nothing yet!" Keep watching!

Bodybuilding's years as a moderately successful sport are over.

I'll always be a bodybuilder at heart (despite my focus now on pure strength development), and it pains me to say this, but it's the truth.

There is too much ill health, shady shit and bad judging to equate to anything else but doom.

It's all drugs, cock-sucking and greedy and criminal fart powder companies.

Advertisers fled because his traffic has practically stopped.  Then so did everyone else.  I heard him also state advertisers left despite traffic numbers being as high as ever.  Palumbo seems delusional if he really believes that.

Palumbo financial problems,RX fired people, not as many show covering etc...
« Reply #16 on: December 09, 2014, 08:11:29 PM »
last month in the radio show he mentioned many times how MD has gone from 500 to 160 pages, that Blechman fired many athletes cause add dont pay as much as before...

then he said that now is too costly to cover shows but he didnt mentioned any RX MUSCLE financial problems...and today am listening to Heavy Muscle Radio and Palumbo is saying "I announced before to my employees that am going to fire them cause adds are not paying as before and am not paying willing to pay from my pocket to cpver the shows.I will cover them if promoters pay my bills for the flyight, hotel, food,I dont have to go to the shows I can cover them from my home,it is too expensive"

so what do you guys think why suddenly he is not interested in covering shows etc and before he was like "we are going to cover this and that,we are the frst in the world to do this"

He just got married and has another mouth to feed along with his fish, snakes and dogs.

Can't waste money paying people and covering shows.

Congratulations to Palumbo for the marriage anyway.

But, to the more pressing matters, has this been confirmed by Vince G?
