Sorry, I have to ask. What is the meaning behind your screen name? Does it have something to do with sticking illegal things in your butt? Just curious.

A budgie is a domesticated pet bird that resembles a parakeet.  United Kingdom.

LOL. All Australians know what they are! You have to understand the male Aussie. The Bronzed Aussies who are surfers wear board shorts. So any guy

who wears a swim suit that reveals his dick is said to be wearing a budgie smuggler. So only kids and olders guys like the Prime Minister wear them.

It's just seems that 110 pounds would be used very little, except as an object of machismo.

After high school and before college I had a job at an oil equipment company.  All the ironworkers bullied the mailroom manager for being effeminate.  They made a cube of iron 7 inches on a side. It weighed exactly 100 pounds.  They put it in a sturdy wooden box, wrapped it and put a shipping label on it.  Then called this poor guy to “come pick it up”

I was trying to remember if I had seen them in a gym.  I am probably thinking of 50 pd plates?  Or maybe they were 25 kilos.

Do gyms carry 50kg barbell plates in Australia? If not do they carry 50 pd barbell plates?

Older gyms have 50 pound plates. When we got our Olympic sets we ordered two 45Kg plates which weigh 99 pounds.

We took them out of the gym because most people didn't use them and they were too heavy for some to shift.

They do indeed sell them.  200 Australian dollars.  I just can't imagine a gym keeping any around though.

You know, I am probably thinking of 50 pd plates.  I remember them at my old gym in Alma Rd, St Kilda.

budgie smugglers

Australian slang term for men's tight-fitting Speedo-style swimwear. The 'lump in the front' apparently resembles a budgie when it is stuffed down the front of someone's shorts. Ah, those crazy Aussies!!
In discussing his film "Revolver" on BBC's Radio 5Live, Guy Ritchie said that Ray Liotta's 'Mr. Macha' character, who parades around wearing only budgie smugglers for much of the film - was 'an impressive sight'.

Try a powerlifting or olympic lifting gym, or stores that cater to them. That being said, they've fallen out of favor in many gyms, most are opting for newer thin design 25 kg plates, and just loading a pair of them on, instead of fiddling with the 50kg plates.
