50 kg barbell plates?

Do gyms carry 50kg barbell plates in Australia? If not do they carry 50 pd barbell plates?

After high school and before college I had a job at an oil equipment company.  All the ironworkers bullied the mailroom manager for being effeminate.  They made a cube of iron 7 inches on a side. It weighed exactly 100 pounds.  They put it in a sturdy wooden box, wrapped it and put a shipping label on it.  Then called this poor guy to “come pick it up”

I was trying to remember if I had seen them in a gym.  I am probably thinking of 50 pd plates?  Or maybe they were 25 kilos.

Ahhhh, I have learned something today. I am going to be to walk around the office today and ask my admins if they want to see my budgie. Awesome screen name btw. I am just glad it didn't mean bird in the butt!

Older gyms have 50 pound plates. When we got our Olympic sets we ordered two 45Kg plates which weigh 99 pounds.

We took them out of the gym because most people didn't use them and they were too heavy for some to shift.

They do indeed sell them.  200 Australian dollars.  I just can't imagine a gym keeping any around though.

Try a powerlifting or olympic lifting gym, or stores that cater to them. That being said, they've fallen out of favor in many gyms, most are opting for newer thin design 25 kg plates, and just loading a pair of them on, instead of fiddling with the 50kg plates.
