Just keeping it real my friend.

Howard looked great, but sadly enough,it`s gone.........all the threatening comeback threads in the world won`t help unless you put the "plan" in motion and continue to keep it going forward.
Not sure why I changed and lost motivation...but I did and I'm very happy now.  I posted various brain farts on the issue.

You need to sort out a job within the fitness industry or become self employed so you have all the time and money required to do what needs to be done to win at the level you expect to compete at.

I dont see the point in competing casually, dedicate 100% of your effort to the goal, no drink, smoking or sniffing, save your liver and kidneys for orals and diuretics.

Set aside a 5 year ish period for heavy competing during your 20's and be prepared to give it all up for your long term health by the end of it, dont become a washed up pregnant looking addict chasing after something that's clearly not going to happen.

Save insulin use for this period if your considering it and after you've maxed out your potential on juice since its essentially starting the countdown to palumboism.

That would probably be the smartest way to tackle seriously competing in my opinion.

Another whiny rant from the guy who lives in the past and threatens to make a comeback every few months.

Howard, bask in the fact that you had a great build, and now it`s kaput.

This post is 100% truth and reality !

You are correct that I used to have an impressive physique , several years ago.
Right now my physique isn't too impressive, even for my age.
I don't want to keep being the big chunky dude that used to compete and look good.

That reality lit a fire under me. Not sure why exactly , but it did.

Thanks.

If Ronald Reagan can get elected twice to be President when he was over 70, I can get back in lean shape at age 56.

As superficial and shallow as this sounds, it would be a real kick in the ass to get in ripped condition again .
Be funny as a fuk to read some of the posts on getbig, if I did and posted pics on here.

Howard you are insulted and you take it as a compliment?  I see it as a steroid user taking credit for their physique that they wouldn't have without the assist no matter what they did. So in effect what they are saying you're out of bodybuilding shape because you're not juicing like they are. Like they would actually put up a picture 6 months off juice. So juice up and put a picture on this site. Get all the praise then go off for months and let everyone think you're actually walk around like that all time.

Because like me, the thought is enticing but thinking about the prep is a bitch and my thought process has changed towards training. I don't want to get weak and I don't want to do the drugs necessary to get there. I mind fuck myself almost everyday about this same thing, should I or shouldn't I. I know if I did I could probably do well in my class at the Masters Nationals but I'm sure as hell not going to kill myself over it.

I never got into drugs much when I competed , except for some moderate cycles in  the mid 1980's.
I'm thick and chunky NOW because my diet sucks.

I simply want to drop wt, increase cardio capacity and get a lean, ripped waist ,aka 6 pack.
I don't care about using drugs, or trying to win a masters national level show, etc.

It would be a hoot to post an actual pic of me shirtless and flexing some visible abs at age 56.
That's definitely possible , but trying to duplicate my best physique from 20-30 yrs ago, is NOT.

I have a lot of miles to put in on the treadmill, 1000's of crunches and lot less food for months to pull it off.

Good post.

I kinda did what you outlined from age 23-27.
I worked as a bouncer and dabbled in the juice while I lived for (mostly) bodybuilding.

From my experience, I think it was a waste of 4 years . I could have gone to school and finished earlier .
A good  job is worth it's wt in GOLD for your security and piece of mind.

"bodybuilding contest success" is (generally speaking) an oxymoron.

Genetics. Access to a boatload of drugs. Age. Other than that, I'm good to go. Where do I accept my plastic trophy?
