most of these conditions were congenital.  They would have suffered from them earlier, but bodybuilding helps to "hold off" illnesses for decades longer.

For example, without the successes of bodybuilding, Craig Titus would have faced life in prison by age 22.  His love of iron allowed him the $ and lifestyle to hold off that sentence for nearly a decade.

Good list but to be fair, Chick had prostate cancer which I'm sure all those wonderful DHT derivatives contributed to.

Anything is possible, but don't be too sure that DHT caused his prostate cancer. Prostate cancer statistics indicate that it is a very common disease.

"Aside from non-melanoma skin cancer, prostate cancer is the most common cancer among men in the United States. It is also one of the leading causes of cancer death among men of all races and Hispanic origin populations. For more information, visit Cancer Among Men.
In 2011  (the most recent year numbers are available)—

209,292 men in the United States were diagnosed with prostate cancer.*†
27,970 men in the United States died from prostate cancer.*†

*Incidence counts cover about 99% of the U.S. population; death counts cover about 100% of the U.S. population. Use caution when comparing incidence and death counts."

No shit, but to claim DHT converting drugs have no effect on potential tumor proliferation on an already vulnerable organ in men is just plain retarded.

I remember that issue, it had an early article on the reintroduction of DNP by an ex dealer named Jeff Feliciano. Flex actually had some decent drug articles at that time, spurred on by the success of Muscle Media 2000.

I'm sure if you opened up that issue now, the number of dead or busted out bodybuilders would be even more shocking.

One of the first thing they do with prostate cancer with many is to give a pill that effectively stops your testicles from making testosterone. Many forget that anabolic steroids were invented to increase the anabolic properties of testosterone and to minimize the androgen effect. They did this because the Soviets Olympic team was using so much straight testosterone and the results in many was an enlarged prostate. Some had it so bad they had to use a catheter to urinate. So my conclusion is that using steroids can hasten the development of enlarged prostate and maybe even cancer. But hey, I'm not a doctor.

Nope you're correct, while using vocabulary easy to understand for the lay person.

their wastes look huge to me i  this pic.  Was insulin being used at this point in time?  From what I've read growth already was.  Maybe it's just the angle.

Did I claim DHT had no effect? I didn't think I did. Truth is, no one really knows what may have contributed to his prostate cancer. I believe I remember him mentioning to me that his father also had prostate cancer. Specific cancers are often thought to be genetic. The point I was making was that prostate cancer is a very common cancer and ailment.

Without a doubt, my being on HRT could have contributed to the onset of my having prostate cancer. It certainly was the reason it was caught so early on since I was having PSA #'s checked quarterly.  I had prostate issues my entire adult life, which surely had some effect. My family history is riddled with cancer on both sides. Many things contribute to one getting cancer. My love for scotch could have been a culprit too. Perhaps I should have had prostate massages to avoid getting cancer.  ;D
