great post, man.  Cruz has been very consistent in his conservative beliefs.  The rest are picking and choosing which positions to take - not based on their principles - but upon voting demographics for 2016.

Rand went to his polling people, and they made a decision as to scooping up the pro-cuban trade vote in battleground Florida and other states that will be up for grabs?

Rand is in no-man's land now.  Cruz is a great choice for conservaitives.   Jeb is a great choice for RINOs/people that claim repub but support amnesty, min wage increase, etc.   Rand... who is he a great choice for?  He's gone centrist way too early.  He's no ron paul, that's for sure.

Rand is an idiot for saying this.  Even if it in theory is a good idea - in actuality its a bad idea because we got zero in return for it and Obama is associated with it.

Why shouldn't we?  Opened with Russia, China, hell even Vietnam.

Current policy hasn't accomplished shit.  We shouldn't be trying to nation build anyway.  And, economic prosperity may do more to bring down the communist regime than anything else.

Here is why - so long as the Castro Brothers and Military control all the money and flow of wealth in the country there will be no prosperity.  They take all the $ for themselves.  they have not renounced communism or said communism is a failure or anything of the sort.  This is Obama saving the Castros more than anything.

Past experience seems to suggest otherwise.  We have relationships with lots of countries where we aren't big supporters of the government structure.  Seems like there is little rationale behind shitting all over Cuba.

Rand also was pretty vocal about police brutality, militarization of police and how he felt that Garner was wronged and the cop should have been indicted......I don't know if it was political maneuvering or a true evolution of thought on his part...the Tea Party ain't gonna be happy with that

IMO.... Rand is a centrist that hopes he can get enough tea partiers to show up and vote for his last name.

Run as a tea partier, then immediately become a RINO.  And hope the 20% of the base that stayed home for Mccain and Romney will actually show up for Rand.   It could work.

Opened with Russia and we got Crimea, a mess in Ukraine and emboldened Putin. SO MUCH FOR RESET.

China? How has economic prosperity changed them? It hasn't and we are falling more and more in debt to them.

Vietnam? Original goal was to make them democratic. Obviously, that never came to fruition and economic growth only resulted in very high income inequality, which supposedly democrats are against. So, they say.

So nothing that Obama and his party has done in the foreign policy arena has worked. NOTHING!!

Agreed...he'll seem less radical than Ted Cruz, much more conservative than Romney, and slightly to the right of Jeb...and because of his current pronouncements on Garner and the police and Cuba, he'll look like a Conservative Democrat who is pro business and pro civil rights and will be able to fend off charges of being racist or insensitive...the Tea Party will have no choice but to vote for him...They don't like Jeb or Romney...if they vote for Cruz its a wasted vote

Those are tenuous casual connections at best, with far too much time between to draw any relevance.

Regime change doesn't typically work from the outside, it has to come from Cuba.  Seems more like we're just needlessly turning our backs on them while we open with everyone else.
