1974 Mr. World Bill Grant Interview
« on: December 26, 2014, 09:45:45 AM »
Check out my interview with 1974 Mr. World Bill Grant. Bill talks about training at the original Gold's Gym in Venice, California, hanging out with Arnold Schwarzenegger, Ken Waller and Frank Zane and competing against such bodybuilding legends as Sergio Oliva, Serge Nubret, Lou Ferrigno and Robby Robinson.

I was hoping for some of those juicy stories but I know Bill couldn't tell me everything that really happened.

I'm pretty sure it was a school boy's uniform from the posts by Jimmy Thomson and Serge Nubret. Uniform originally intended for Padilla but he didn't want shafted hence he had to watch the 75 U from the audience and was shafted in a different way for years after.

Were French transvestites not included in a story by Serge? Joe Weider wanted Serge to join him in an orgy with them one time in Paris if memory serves. Apparently it was all to be included in Serge's book but Jimmy and Serge were taken before they could publish anything in the Weider's lifetime. Total coincidence and nothing sinister I'm sure.

Nope, Serge's book was printed in French before he died  ;D
English version would be great  :D
Weider screwed Padilla (thanks to Katz) too in SA.

His biceps were huge. They almost look like they are filled with oil, but we all know that they weren't.

What a great interview. When he mentioned Ken Waller it made me think where is he now? Anyone?

I was lucky enough to be able to train at the original golds before it closed. Damn, those were great times.

.

That was him a few years ago. Someone mentioned on another board that he splits his time between California and the midwest.

After the interview was over, I asked Bill about Waller to see if he would be interested in doing an interview. He said he lives in St. Louis and he said he would contact him to ask him.

I've got Mike Katz and Rich Gaspari coming up next and I might have interviews with Vince Taylor, Samir Bannout and Mike Christian coming up soon.

Danny would be a great interview. He's hard to reach but I'll try to contact him and see if he'll do it.

Because your neck of the woods comes to mind... Some of us old timers would be thrilled to hear from the likes of Richard Baldwin, Ellington Darden, and better still; Jim Haislop! .. Either of these would be epic interviews...
