Are you seeing a theme here?   The RINO establishment - mccain, romney - they're scared SHITLESS of Cruz.

They want things to be the same.  Sounds like Ted Cruz is a legit candidate that WOULD change things.  it's good when the establishment is worried.  Would love to see Cruz vs. Warren in the election.  Hilary and RINOs are so close on issues...

Hopefully you’re all already liquored up sufficiently to dull the pain.

“I know exactly what Mitt’s going to do,” [Ken] Gardner, a real estate developer who helped bring Romney to Utah to lead the 2002 Winter Olympics, told the Deseret News. “I think over the next few months, a lot of things will happen.”…

“If it’s Ted Cruz that’s the candidate, he’s in. If it’s Jeb Bush, he’s probably not,” Gardner said.

He said Romney doesn’t want to cost fellow moderate Republicans Bush and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie support at this point in the race.

That changes, Gardner said, “if it doesn’t look like they can do it.”

If the establishment forces a flaky RINO down everyones throats yet again, the base will be demoralized yet again, and the dem wins easily.
it boggles the mind why they are so afraid to run an actual conservative who actually takes clear stands and actually represents the base.

3/4 of washington DC are spend-happy pricks that LOVE the current system.  That's all the libs & half the republicans.

They have a good thing going.  And they really didn't mind the tea party when it was all about these divisive social wedge issues, and they were running a bunch of idiots like Paladino and that "I am not a Witch" lady.

Today, the tea party - the fiscally conservative half of the republican party - is running sensible, intelligent people that aren't spending all day screaming loudest about the smallest things.  Today you have people like Ted Cruz and Jason Chaffertz organizing it behinda very simple message - SPEND LESS, DC.

And the RINOs and LIBs that have enjoyed a gravy train of pork for centuries are scared shitless!

Cruz appears so-so at best.  It's a wonder that neither party has a truly decent candidate.

he's a little chunky, a little goober, but he's been steady in his belief system.   The rest have been RINOs or part-time RINOs.   Rand agreeing with obama on amnesty and Cuba... WTF?

But that's not what Republicans have been putting forth lately.  Bush was a big spending conservative.  Romney, might have done well but made some mistakes that candidates just can't make.  McCain...somewhere in the middle.

Extreme candidates, IMO, don't tend to make it.  Hell, even Obama had conservative stances and tried to move toward the middle at election.

And, why should there be an emphasis on electing a polarizing candidate?  Reality is, people generally aren't ALL conservative or ALL liberal, they are somewhere in the middle.  So, finding that candidate that's closest to your beliefs is about as good as it's going to get.

I'm scared he will run again, and fck up the republican's chances at WINNING a race.

He lost against an entirely beatable obama with record low polling.  Statistically, obama was lower than carter and losing was a certainty.  Romney was LEADING after debate #1, remember?  Then he blew it.

And if you look at romney since the election - he supports amnesty, he supports min wage.  He's a fcking liberal, dude.  No matter what the (r) next to his name says, he defends liberal positions, and wants to make amnesty PERMANENT.  he said obama didn't go far enouogh!

So YES, I am scared repubs will screw this up and pick a piece-of-shit RINO that will lose again, and give us 4 or 8 more years of a democrat in office.  Or just as bad, win the eleciton and vote like a liberal for 4 or 8 years.   Like Romney says he will on these issues.

I don't get why you defend romney - you're a repub, you should be attacking him harder than me.  They destroy romney over at FR, where REAL repubs see thru to his true RINO/lib colors .

Vote Cruz.  Or lose.

Once again...

How is ted cruz 'extreme'??

Everyone loves to say this but no one ever explains why. Obama promises to 'fundamentally transform america' but no , thats not radical at all...cruz acts to preserve traditional american ideology and that is somehow OMG EXTREME RADICAL ::) ::)

Cruz is being called extreme by LIBS and RINOS.

Why?  Cause he will disrupt their spend-happy cycle of borrowing and pork.

The sad thing is, it will NOT be the libs that stop cruz, if he loses - it'll be the RINOs.  Already, you see Jeb, Rubio and Mitt actually doing something unheard of - UNIFYING - to ensure Cruz doesn't win.

Now, we can only hope the repubs are SMART enough to do the same to stop the RINOs... we don't need pawlenty, bachmann, carson and whoever each grabbing 3% of the vote and letting Cruz narrowly lose to some shitty RINO that only 1/3 of the repubs want.

geez, I hate RINOs.  I hate them.  They're pieces of shit.  They're right here on getbig, disparaging liberals every day, but THEY are the ones costing teh GOP elections, period.  I'll take all the flak in the world from true conservvatives, but RINOS?   Every one of them is a traitor to conservatism, and we all know it.

no more free passes for RINOs!  You're a conservative, or you're a lib. NO MORE standing in the middle, giggling about romney/jeb, shifting on amnesty, shrugging on the $1.1 trillion, dissing on Cruz.  If that's you, you're not a liberal, because you are furthering the liberal agenda.   PERIOD!

Ouch...what's with the strong rebuke?  I've said Romney probably would have done a decent job, but hell, neither side can seem to put forward a decent candidate.  Dems are just as sad - Hillary?  GMAFB.

Does Cruz have a Latino voting base?

He doesn't have any kind of strong base outside of Texas, but that's largely true of newer politicians.  Same with Rubio, Rand, etc.

Latino voters - the legal ones (thanks, obama!) are a conservative and respectful religious group.

Seeing as Cruz won the value voters straw poll 2 years in a row, I'd say he's in excellent shape there.
