Your Greatest Super Heroes ever!
« on: January 01, 2015, 03:03:24 AM »
It's now 2015 and superheroes are bigger than ever. Since the dawn of Superman in 1938, comic fans across the globe have read in awe and watched these men and women battle the forces of evil that we couldn’t. But who are the best and brightest of these heroes that have influenced me? Shaped my reality? Shaped my dreams? Some are flawed, some are ruthless, some are naively optimistic, and some are just so freaking cute that I couldn't help myself. But every single character that I will list in this write up has certainly earned their keep within my heart. While some heroes I chose might be a no brainer, I'm betting some may even shock you, either way; it'll surely entice and intrigue you. Ladies and gents I give you My Top 30 Greatest Super Heroes EVER!!! :-*

Never a fan of the Surfer due to his pacifism.

I know Stan as well (and many other creators in the industry), I was invited to his 90th birthday party in 2012.

I was lying about Stan and Jack....unfortunately.  :(

If I had the comics (mostly Marvel, but hundreds of DC as well),I`d be rich today.

Had DD # 7,Spidey # 2,Avengers # 1,and so many more...............my cousin who was older and was a cop, stole all my comics that took years to collect.

I used to cash in soda bottles and steal milk jugs that were 25 cents refundable off of people porches to get my comics...... I collected so many titles.

Oh yeah,my cousin is the reason I hate cops!  :D

These days,I`m collecting Marvel Essential.........got around 50 of them thus far..........brings back memories of a time that was great as corny as that may sound.

Lucky for you champ that digging through trash and recycling bins isn't considered stealing.

That being said I can hear you mumbling to yourself, "to whom much is given much is required and these loosers are throwing it all away...."

Carry on.

Awesome write up indie-lad.

I like your list - especially Captain Marvel at (near) the top. I wish someone would write him well.

Where's Black Bolt?

Was a little worried Frank Castle wasn't going to be on the list. I like that you gave him such a high position ;D

No movie ever got Punisher right.

This is the best featured appearance of the character that Marvel ever did.

This is how the Punisher should be. Watch this, this is the Punisher movie!

Not a big fan of anime styled stuff, so I found that hard to get into. As off as it was, Dolph's is still my favorite for a few reasons. One, the only movie to show him using the sixty. And with exchanges like "what the fuck do you call 125 murders in 5 years?" "Work in progress". That to me is The Punisher. Just too many little details like meditating naked in the sewer throwing it off.

When I was a kid I owned that original Superman comic that is so damn priceless today plus a few other originals that are now super-collectables .... but no one back then had any idea that they would be so damn valuable today.

Throughout the years I've purchased comics which I felt would be a good investment but I simply packed them away in plastic sleeves without reading them .... except for a few that appeared to be interesting.

Must have over a thousand packed away in someone's basement right now.

Here are a few that I can still recall.

The "Punk" Superboy series. Most of you GetBiggers have no idea of thiis collection but it was memorable simply due to the accuracy of the artist who drew the backgrounds.

One Superboy story occurs on Waikiki Beach and each background scene (mainly  the beach-front hotels) was pretty damn accurate and detailed.

Then there was a comic book series (I've forgotten the name of this one) about some teen-age kid who was spending a day in the Venice Beach area and for some forgotten reason he turned into a Hulk-like creature and beat up all the weigh lifters training in the pit and his main concern was how he was going to explain this metamorphosis to his girlfriend.
The drawings in this comic were very accurate also.

Anyone recall the name of that one?

And before roids were too well known, some Superman artist drew a story in an early  attempt to discredit rood-usage with a story line in which Superman himself "blew-up" (roods were never mentioned though) and had to leave earth because he got too damn big and was destroying everything he touched.a

But now-a-days I just read Qusntum Mechanics, Chaos Theory, and Marty Champion stuff ..... each of which I find to be very confusing even though I is very smart.
