An Open letter to Gail Auerbach, Clueless Editor At RX Muscle
Lets take a walk down memory lane so that the fine people on the interwebs really understands who you are. When you pretend to have such all knowing information about those of us from the now nearly defunct former website I used to be employed at, I want to make sure ALL of the facts are on the table. Primarily when you attack those who can not defend themselves. But more to the point, when someone does defend themselves, clearly and with hard factual truth... you decide to HARD delete your trollings so that none of the admin or mods can see it. Done in true "oh shit" bipolar fashion.
This is a story relayed to Sally, Morgan and myself by our former employer as we enjoyed a leisurely stroll in downtown Dallas a few years ago on our way to the Aquarium. You know Dave loves Aquariums so he, when you confront him with this, will know exactly the day in question.
By the way.. I didn't go to the aquarium. Dave enjoyed himself and Sally told me of the excellent Margaritas they had in the open air bar in the center of the aquarium... but I digress.
As we strolled the 4 blocks from our hotel to the aquarium, Dave had just taken a phone call from you. Afterwards, he chuckled. We asked him what was so funny? And I will paraphrase: "Gail is crazy. She claims she is in the hospital with liver and or multi-organ failure after her debacle at Team U. She claims because of my prep advice, she is in adrenal failure and her organs are shutting down." During the phone call he asked you to send him you blood work... and magically you were discharged and free of any problems...
The bigger question is "why would you go into any kind of organ failure after prep?" The funniest answer is this: because you were ducking the truth about your IFBB Pro Card "win" from Team U. Lets go over the facts:
IFBB Team Universe - This is a drug tested event!
Gail won the Masters 35+ FBB class at Team Universe.
Gail also won her weight class in the FBB Open category at Team Universe.
Gail did not win the overall in FBB Open.
Gail denied taking any "banned substance" to both Sally and Dave moments after the show.
So, by the rules that governed that class that year, Gail actually won a pro card for her Masters win! Congratulations!!! Also, by the rules that governed that day, by virtue of her Open class win, secured a spot with Team USA at the IFBB Worlds event! Well, about that...
Now comes the sticky part. At that time, Team Universe did NOT require drug screening for the Masters classes, even if a pro card was awarded. HOWEVER, a drug screen is required for all OPEN class winners! Now, she should surely pass a drug test at an openly drug tested event, right? She claimed, when it time for her to provide a sample, that she simply couldn't go. Then she confided to Sally and Dave that she submitted "sink water" to the drug screening committee. "Are you sure you didn't take anything? Weinberger will have your ass! She finally submitted the required pee pee.
In short, Gail FAILED her drug test. She was banished from the IFBB Team USA , but since the drug test did not apply for her win in Masters (double jeopardy) she was able to retain her Masters qualified pro card.
However, there is more to this story. And Gail will deny this, but I and others know first hand, to be true. She claims she never competed in a pro show due to 1 of 392 different reasons, but none of them were the definitive truth. That truth is that as a condition of her failed drug test, she would forfeit her shot at IFBB Worlds, and she would never compete in a sanctioned IFBB Pro show either.
I hope this makes its way back to Gail. The last time I saw Gail, her and I had a marvelous weekend working together covering the Sarasota IFBB show. She was markedly polite to me and went out of her way to ensure I had everything I could need. I really did appreciate that. I looked the other way when it came to the lies, deceit, made up stories, pity festivals and all of the other bullshit she has pulled over peoples eyes. But how dare you throw someone under the bus for no other reason than to try to make yourself into something you are not and will never be; respected.
I learned a valuable lesson that day in Dallas - You really were crazy... oh... and never fully trust your reputation with Dave Palumbo.
