This^ I don't think he ever enjoyed training but was using it as a means to an end. No true bodybuilder would just give up training for the rest of their lives. We are addicts to this shit.
Exactly. He never enjoyed training. The hit cult are the same, they don't like training. They want a short cut and mentzer gave it to them by lying to these saps that hit would deliver the best results by doing little as possible. They're just lazy with no passion for bodybuilding.
Yates was the same. He never enjoyed training but used it as a means to an end. Compare him to Coleman who just loved to train. He just had such passion for training. Just like Arnold did. Ever noticed the volume guys enjoyed their training and had fun with it while the hit guys looked miserable and grouchy? All that going to failure stressed out their central nervous systems making them hate their training.
Also consider that both mentzer and Yates took large dosages of drugs to make up for the lack of volume in their training.
Yates now does yoga. Yoga...😆. Real bodybuilders keep on training. Arnold, Serge, Lou, Danny, Robby, Frank, etc All kept on training into their golden years because they enjoyed it.
