he probably could outrun it and knew what speed it was coming at, had practiced on the side of it before etc..

problem, he was too stupid to realize the possibility of stumbling on the rocks between the rails

How far ahead of the train was he? Even if he slipped and fell if there was enough distance he could have gotten up in time.

According to the police, he did not slip at all. The train was baring down on him, horn blaring and Plitt kept running. The train clipped him and at no point did Plitt try to move or get out of the way and he never stumbled.

He might have been able to beat that train if he were to work more on his first step. 10 yard split was obviously not explosive enough.

It's already big with athletes (elementary-college) I've been teaching speed and holding clinics for about 10 years. Train sprints would be a great addition. lol
